Does A Helix Mattress Need A Boxspring

Overview Does A Helix Mattress Need A Boxspring

Helix, a mattress manufacturer selling direct to consumers, is known for its sleep studies. This quiz will determine which mattress is best for you. It takes into account your weight, preferred sleep position, and personal sleeping preferences. There are seven main variants in the Helix series to suit different sleeping styles. Does A Helix Mattress Need A Boxspring

Helix Sunset and Helix Moonlight are the softest versions available from the manufacturer. Helix Midnight or Helix Dusk would be two examples of the medium models. Helix Sunset Helix Twilight Helix Dawn, Helix Plus, and Helix Plus are three of the most commonly used models. Helix Plus are the strongest models in this line.

Helix produced the Sunset. Helix kept side sleepers in mind when creating the Sunset, Midnight and Twilight. Lunar Light The Midnight, Dusk, and Dawn have been designed with stomach and back sleepers in mind. The Plus is designed especially for larger individuals. Helix creates each mattress to fit specific weight categories and sleeping positions. However, it may be appreciated by some who like its feel.

Every model, except the Plus comes in both the Luxe or normal editions. This optional update extends the coil system to provide zonal support for spinal alignment. This allows the hips to be supported and the shoulders to sink further. To give the cushion a more luxurious feel, the Luxe edition quilts the top. Tencel covers allow for ventilation to the mattress and help remove moisture. In addition to the 10-year standard guarantee, the upgrade includes a 15 year warranty.

Standard versions of the Dawn and Dusk, Midnight, Moonlight and Sunset are 12 inches thick. The luxurious versions are 14 inches. The Plus is 13 inches thick in addition. The Helix mattress may need large pockets as any of these heights could be regarded high-profile.

We’ll be looking at the features, construction, reviews, and other aspects of each Helix mattress. We will also provide some possible benefits to help you make a decision about which model is best for you.

Helix Mattress Performance

Motion Isolation

helix-dawn-sideHelix mattresses are very good at controlling movement. The foam layers absorb most movement. The latex-like polyfoam of comfort layers is, however, springier than ordinary memory. You may be able to sense your partner’s movements throughout the night because to the springiness that emanates from the coil’s center.

Dusk/Sunset absorb the most motion due to their memory foam layers, which are softer than the other Helix models.

The Plus features two comfort layers, which stop most coil motions contacting the mattress’ springy core.

Therefore, vibrations may be less likely to travel across the mattress’s surface.

This reduces the amount of noise that is transmitted across the mattress. The amount of motion transmission during the moonlight, dawn and midnight is very low, which may lessen your ability to go to sleep.

Pressure Relief

Helix mattresses are known for their ability to reduce pressure. This is due in part to the pockets of coils and memory foam. The foam is able to induce deep relaxation and self cradling, which can reduce pressure points like the hips. The demands of side sleepers or anyone under 130 lbs. are better met by the softer mattresses. Firmer mattresses would be a better choice for those who sleep on the stomach or back, or who are more than 230lbs.

Moonlight, dusk and sunset provide the best pressure relief, partly because they have plusher surfaces. The Plus was designed specifically for those with more weight and may be effective in relieving pressure points for those who fall into this category. Twilight’s stronger sensation will cause sleepers to be more resistant to pressure points, which can decrease the efficacy and effectiveness of these products.

Temperature Control

When it comes to sleeping cool, Helix mattresses perform around average for hybrids.

Because memory foam mattresses often retain heat, they can make you feel warm while you sleep. To counter heat loss, the coils of these mattresses allow air to flow through to aid in cooling.

The Dawn’s firmness and lack of sinkage help it sleep cooler than the other types. Two cooling covers are included with the Plus to further aid with heat dissipation.

Edge Support

Each Helix model features an encasement that’s strengthened in the coil’s core. Because of this, sinkage is less when a person lies down or sits on the edge. Every model has a different level support due to its structure and stiffness.

The Dawn and Twilight, for example, provide excellent edge support due to their strong design. They provide excellent edge support due to their strong build. Dusk, Midnight and Plus also provide enough support for the edges.

The most luxurious models are Moonlight the Moonlight and Sunset, so you’ll sink less while you sleep or sit close to the edge. They have the lowest edge support of all Helix mattress models.

Ease of Movement

The ease of movement is primarily determined by the model’s quality. The surface is slippery due to the sinking Moonlight as well as the soft Moonlight.

Twilight models and Dawn models feel more firm and pleasant. The powerful pushback against the body of Dawn and Twilight models makes it easier to move around and get out from bed.

The Line with a Plus bed has two layers of comfort. However, it’s a little more difficult to move than other hybrids.

Sex

Helix mattresses provide some spring and bounce thanks to their coil cores. Many couples find this a great option for sex. The level of conforming or sinking of the foam layers can affect how sexual experiences are enhanced or diminished depending on the mattress design.

The Helix Dawn and Twilight’s smooth surfaces make moving about simpler, making them the best options for couples. Additionally, dusk and midnight are ideal times for sex. However, moonlight, sunset and sunrise will likely make things more difficult. These models have soft, plush surfaces that can restrict movement.

Off-Gassing

Helix models start with the same standard amount of “new-mattress scent” that all foam mattresses have.

This is a common smell that is considered to be safe and usually disappears within a few days. Helix offers a number of various mattress options.

Helix mattresses can be described as hybrids because their coil cores make it easier for air to move around the entire bed. This means that the odors from Helix mattresses will dissipate faster than they would from an all-foam one.

If the smell is bothersome, you might leave the mattress out in a well-ventilated place for a few days.

Helix Sleeping Style and Body Weight

Side Sleepers

Helix-sunset-sideTo sleep well on your side, you need a mattress that offers the right balance of support and cushioning. To align the spine and alleviate strain, the hips should not be pressed against the mattress. Side sleepers are more comfortable with mattresses that feel “medium”, closer to the soft range.

Side sleepers with a weight below 130 pounds will appreciate the plush padding offered by the Moonlight, Dusk, and Moonlight models. The Moonlight is for those who enjoy a more comfortable environment.

Side sleepers who are between 130 and 230 lbs should be able to use the Midnight/Dusk. These sleepers will appreciate the models’ combination of strong contouring and support.

If you are a side-sleeper who is more than 230 lbs, the Plus and, to some extent, the Twilight will be your best choices. The firmer feel of these models will prevent side sleepers who are heavier than 230 pounds from sinking too deeply into their beds. Helix Dynamic Faam layers give cushioning and bounce. Plus models are designed for larger people. Foam comfort layers provide the necessary support to alleviate pressure on the shoulders.

Back Sleepers

The same goes for back sleepers. However, they need more support and contouring than side sleepers.

To prevent spinal misalignment, back sleeping usually requires a little more support and hardness, particularly in the lumbar area. You can ensure that your spine is fairly straight by placing your back on the mattress.

This is why side sleepers prefer mattresses that are firmer, but not as rigid as stomach sleepers.

The Midnight may be the right choice for backs that weigh less than 130lbs. It depends on your needs. It provides the right amount of support and cushioning that this sleeping position requires.

Those who weigh between 130 and 230 pounds have a wide range of options. Back sleepers who fall within this weight range may be able to use the Plus or Twilight. Both provide enough plushness to cushion the spine and great support for the lower back. Both Dawn and Dusk are excellent due to their solid support and moderate firmness.

The Plus, Twilight and Dawn are great choices for those who sleep on their backs and weigh more than 230 pounds. These mattresses provide support for all weight categories to prevent hips sinking into the mattress.

Stomach Sleepers

Because torsos typically bear the bulk of a person’s weight, Stomach sleepers are more likely to put stress on their mattresses, and sink deeper than others. If they sink too far, they run the risk of pushing their spines out their normal alignment. It could cause aches or pains in the future. The bottom line is that stomach sleepers need a mattress which is firmer, more supportive and offers enough support to align their backs.

Helix versions that are firmer will be more comfortable for stomach-sleepers, who require a level surface in order to maintain their spinal alignment. People who are more than 130 lbs and who wish to sleep well may choose the Plus or Dawn. Because they are strong and supportive, the central portion of the mattress will reduce the chance of you losing weight. Therefore, a cushion that is comfortable will provide the support that stomach sleepers in this weight range require.

Because it feels medium-firm, The Midnight is ideal for stomach sleepers who weigh less than 130 lbs. For heavier people, however, the Midnight will sink too deep. The Twilight may be suitable for stomach-sleepers who are lighter than 130 to 230 lbs, especially if they weigh between 130 and 220 lb.
