Helix Foam Mattress: 2023 Full Review

Helix Foam Mattress

Overview Helix Foam Mattress

Helix, a mattress manufacturer selling direct to consumers, is known for its sleep studies. This quiz suggests the ideal mattress based on a person’s weight, preferred sleeping position, and sleeping style. There are seven main variants in the Helix series to suit different sleeping styles. Helix Foam Mattress

Helix Moonlight and the Sunset The softest versions from the manufacturer are Helix Sunset and Helix Moonlight. Helix Midnight is one example of a medium model. Helix Dusk is another. Helix Sunset Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn are the most popular models. Helix Plus are the strongest models in this line.

Helix makes the Sunset. Helix considers side sleepers when designing the Sunsets, Midnights, and Twilight. Lunar Light, Dusk and Dawn were designed with stomach- and back sleepers at heart. The Plus is especially made for those who are bigger. While Helix designs each mattress with certain weight categories and sleep positions in mind, some people may also like the way it feels.

With the exception of Plus, every model is available in both the Luxe and normal editions. This update is optional and extends coil support to provide zonal back support, which aids in better spinal alignment. This works by supporting the hips and allowing the shoulders to drop further. To give the cushion a more luxurious feel, the Luxe edition quilts the top. Tencel covers encourage ventilation and aid in moisture removal. In addition to the 10-year standard guarantee, the upgrade includes a 15 year warranty.

Standard versions of the Dawn and Dusk, Midnight, Moonlight and Sunset are 12 inches thick. The luxurious versions are 14 inches. Additionally, the Plus measures 13 inches in thickness. Helix mattresses might require large pockets, as they could be viewed as high-profile.

We will review the specifications, construction, and customer reviews for each Helix mattress. We’ll also be listing some of the potential benefits to help determine which model might work best for your needs.

Helix Mattress Performance

Motion Isolation

helix-dawn-sideThe majority of Helix mattresses are excellent at preventing movement. A lot of movement is often absorbed by foam layers. The comfort layers’ latex-like polyfoam, however, is springier than ordinary memory foam. The springiness emanating out of the coil’s center may allow you to detect your partner’s movements during the night.

Dusk, Sunset have the highest motion absorption of any Helix model due to their memory foam layers.

Two comfort layers make up the Plus. They prevent most coil motions reaching the core of the springy coils.

You may experience less vibration on the mattress’ surface.

The quantity of noise that is transferred over the mattress is reduced as a result. You might be able to sleep more easily if your partner is not around.

Pressure Relief

Helix mattresses offer pressure relief. This is partially due to the pocketsed coils, memory foam and polyfoam layers. Deep relaxation and self-cradling are possible with the foam, which can help relieve pressure on pressure points such as the hips or shoulders. Side sleepers and anyone less than 130 lbs. have special needs. Softer mattresses will be more accommodating to their needs. For those who like to sleep on their stomach or back or who weigh more than 230 pounds, however, firmer mattresses are recommended.

Moonlight, dusk and sunset provide the best pressure relief, partly because they have plusher surfaces. The Plus is specifically designed for those who are heavier and can help alleviate pressure points. Twilight and Dawn have a harder sensation, which will increase resistance to pressure points. This reduces the efficacy these products in this area.

Temperature Control

Helix mattresses perform about average in hybrids for cooling down when it comes sleeping.

Memory foam mattresses have a reputation for making you feel hot while you sleep. It often holds on to heat all night. These mattresses have coils that allow air to circulate through them to counter heat loss.

The Dawn’s firmness, and lack of sinkage, makes it more comfortable than other types. Two cooling covers are included with the Plus to further aid with heat dissipation.

Edge Support

Every Helix model comes with an encasement which is reinforced within the core of the coil. The coil’s core is strengthened, so there is less sinkage when the person sits or lies on the edge of their bed. Each model offers a different level of edge support, due to its quality and stiffness.

For instance, due to their sturdy design, the Dawn and Twilight provide the best edge support. They provide excellent edge support due to their strong build. Dusk and Midnight are also available. Plus provides sufficient support for edges.

Moonlight the Moonlight and Sunset are the most luxurious models. They offer more support for your spine, while also allowing you to sleep closer to the edge. They provide the least amount of edge support of all Helix mattresses.

Ease of Movement

The model’s overall quality is what separates the ease of movement from any other class. The surface is slippery due to the sinking Moonlight as well as the soft Moonlight.

Twilight and Dawn models however, feel firmer and more comfortable. It is considerably simpler to shift about and get out of bed with the Dawn and Twilight models’ powerful pushback against the body.

The two-layer comfort system of the Line with the Plus may make the bed a little harder to move about on than other hybrids, but the firmness still allows for a sufficient amount of movement.

Sex

Helix mattresses have coil cores that provide spring and bounce, which couples often enjoy when having sex. The amount of conforming or sinking that the foam layers provide can influence the sexual experience depending on how it is made.

The Helix Dawn’s smooth surfaces make it easy for couples to move around. Additionally, dusk, midnight, and plus are ideal times for sex, but moonlight and sunset will probably make things more difficult. These models have soft, plush surfaces that can restrict movement.

Off-Gassing

All Helix models initially have the standard amount of “new mattress scent,” which is present with all foam mattresses.

This smell is often considered to be normal and goes away within a few hours. Helix offers several mattress options.

Because Helix mattresses are hybrids, their coil cores provide more air to move across the whole bed. Therefore, the odors of Helix mattresses will dissipate more quickly than with all-foam mattresses.

You can leave the mattress open for a few hours if the smell bothers you.

Helix Sleeping Style and Body Weight

Side Sleepers

Helix-sunset-sideTo sleep well on your side, you need a mattress that offers the right balance of support and cushioning. The mattress should allow the shoulders and hips to sink into it. This will help align the spine and relieve strain. Side sleepers are more comfortable with mattresses that feel “medium”, closer to the soft range.

The Dusk and Moonlight models’ plush padding will be appreciated by side bed sleepers who weigh less than 130 pounds. The Moonlight is the best option for those who desire a cozier setting.

The Midnight and Dusk models are best for side sleepers weighing between 130-230 pounds. This weight range is the majority of those who will benefit from the models’ powerful contouring and support.

The Plus and, in a lesser amount, the Twilight are the best options for side sleepers who weigh more than 220 pounds. These models’ firmer feel will keep folks who fall into this type of side sleepers from sinking too deep into their beds. Helix Dynamic foam layer provides bounce and cushioning, while the Plus model is for larger persons. The foam comfort layers provide support and cushioning, as well as the relief of pressure on the hips, shoulders, and hips.

Back Sleepers

Side sleepers need less cushioning but still require support.

Back sleeping is more difficult than usual. You need extra support in the lumbar and back regions to prevent your spine from sinking. Your spine should be balanced by the position of your back on a bed.

This is why back sleepers often choose mattresses that are firmer than those preferred by side sleepers but not as stiff as those preferred by stomach sleepers.

The Midnight may be the best option for back sleepers under 130 pounds, depending on their needs. It offers the ideal amount support and cushioning to this sleeping position.

People who weigh between 130 to 230 pounds have many options. Back sleepers who fall within this weight range may be able to use the Plus or Twilight. Both offer enough support to the lower back and spine with sufficient plushness. Due to their reliable support and reasonable firmness, they are both Dusk and Dawn are also excellent.

The Plus, Twilight and Dawn are great choices for those who sleep on their backs and weigh more than 230 pounds. These mattresses provide support for all weight categories to prevent hips sinking into the mattress.

Stomach Sleepers

As the main weight bearing part of a person’s body, torsos are usually heavier. Stomach sleepers are more likely to put stress on their mattresses, and sink deeper than others. If they fall too far, they can push their spines out from their normal alignment. It could cause aches or pains in the future. The bottom line is that stomach sleepers need a mattress which is firmer, more supportive and offers enough support to align their backs.

Helix models with a firmer surface will be the most comfortable for stomach sleepers. This is because they require a level surface for proper spinal alignment. Those who weigh more than 130 pounds who want to sleep well might choose the Plus and Dawn. Because they are strong and supportive, the central portion of the mattress will reduce the chance of you losing weight. To provide stomach sleepers with this weight, a cushion which is comfortable will be sufficient.

Because the Midnight feels medium-firm it’s suitable for stomach sleepers below 130 pounds. Heavy people may sink too much. The Twilight is also suitable for stomach sleepers who are lighter, especially those who weigh between 130 to 230 pounds.
