Helix Hybrid Mattress Reviews

Overview Helix Hybrid Mattress Reviews

Helix, a direct to consumer mattress manufacturer, is known for its sleep research. This quiz will determine which mattress is best for you. It takes into account your weight, preferred sleep position, and personal sleeping preferences. The Helix series has seven different variants that will suit various sleeping preferences. Helix Hybrid Mattress Reviews

Helix Moonlight and the Sunset The softest versions from the manufacturer are Helix Sunset and Helix Moonlight. Helix Midnight, Helix Dusk and Helix Twilight are two examples for medium models. Helix Sunset Helix Twilight Helix Dawn Helix Plus and Helix Plus have the most common use models. Helix Plus and Helix Twilight are the best-selling models in the Helix line.

Helix produced the Sunset. Helix kept side sleepers in mind when creating the Sunset, Midnight and Twilight. Lunar Light Midnight, Dusk and Dawn are designed with stomach sleepers and backs in mind. The Plus is designed especially for larger individuals. Helix creates each mattress to fit specific weight categories and sleeping positions. However, it may be appreciated by some who like its feel.

Every model, except the Plus comes in both the Luxe or normal editions. The optional update increases the coil system to provide zonallumbar support. This will help in better spinal alignment. This is accomplished by supporting the hips while allowing the shoulders to descend farther. The Luxe edition of the quilt is used on the top to give the cushion a plush feel. Tencel covers allow for ventilation to the mattress and help remove moisture. In addition to the 10-year standard guarantee, the upgrade includes a 15 year warranty.

The Dawn, Dusk Midnight and Sunset versions are 12 inches thick. Twilight’s luxurious version is 14 inches. Plus measures 13 inches. Helix mattresses might require large pockets, as they could be viewed as high-profile.

We will be examining the construction and reviews for each Helix mattress. We will also provide some possible benefits to help you make a decision about which model is best for you.

Helix Mattress Performance

Motion Isolation

helix-dawn-sideHelix mattresses have a great track record of preventing movement. A lot of movement is often absorbed by foam layers. The comfort layers’ latex-like polyfoam, however, is springier than ordinary memory foam. Due to the springiness emanating form the coil’s core, it is possible to sense your partner moving throughout the night.

The memory foam layers and soft feel of the Helix models make the Dusk and Sunset absorb the most motion than any other models.

Two comfort layers are included in the Plus, which keep most coil motions from reaching its springy coil core.

This may result in less vibration traveling over the mattress’ surface.

As a result, the noise transmitted over the mattress is less. Motion transmission is modest during moonlight, dawn, and midnight, which might lessen the impact of your partner’s movements on your ability to sleep.

Pressure Relief

Helix mattresses reduce pressure. This is partly due to the Helix mattress’ layers of memory foam, pocketed coils, and polyfoam. The foam is able to induce deep relaxation and self cradling, which can reduce pressure points like the hips. Side sleepers (or anyone below 130 lbs) have specific needs. Softer mattresses will be more accommodating to their needs. For those who like to sleep on their stomach or back or who weigh more than 230 pounds, however, firmer mattresses are recommended.

The moonlight, sunset, sunrise, and night are the best times to relieve pressure. This is partly due to the plusher surfaces. The Plus is designed for heavier people and may help to alleviate pressure points. Due to Twilight and Dawn’s more intense sensations, sleepers will be less likely to experience pressure points. This can reduce the effectiveness of these products.

Temperature Control

Helix hybrid mattresses are around average when it comes to cooling down.

Memory foam mattresses can cause you to feel warm as you sleep. The mattress often stores heat and keeps it. These mattresses have coils that allow air to circulate through them to counter heat loss.

The Dawn’s firmness as well as its lack of sinkage makes it feel cooler than other types. To further reduce heat loss, the Plus comes with two cooling covers.

Edge Support

Each Helix model has an encasement that is strengthened within the coil’s core. The coil’s core is strengthened, so there is less sinkage when the person sits or lies on the edge of their bed. Each model offers a different level of edge support, due to its quality and stiffness.

Twilight and Dawn offer the best edge support, thanks to their solid design. They provide excellent edge support due to their strong build. Dusk, Midnight and Plus also provide enough support for the edges.

Moonlight the Moonlight & Sunset are the most extravagant models. These mattresses will allow you to sink less or stay close to the edge. They have the lowest edge support of all Helix mattress models.

Ease of Movement

The model’s quality primarily sets the ease of movement apart as a separate class. The deep sinking Moonlight and setting sun make it difficult to walk on this surface.

Twilight models and Dawn models feel more firm and pleasant. It’s much easier to get up and move about with the Dawn/Twilight models’ strong pushback against your body.

The Line with a Plus bed has two layers of comfort. However, it’s a little more difficult to move than other hybrids.

Sex

Helix mattresses have coil cores that provide spring and bounce, which couples often enjoy when having sex. Depending on the design of the mattress, the degree of conforming and sinking provided by the foam layers may enhance or detract from the sexual experience.

The Helix Dawn and Twilight have smooth surfaces that make moving around easier, making them excellent choices for couples. Additionally, dusk, midnight, and plus are ideal times for sex, but moonlight and sunset will probably make things more difficult. These models have soft, plush surfaces that can restrict movement.

Off-Gassing

Helix models are initially equipped with the standard “new mattress fragrance” which is common for all foam mattresses.

This is a common smell that is considered to be safe and usually disappears within a few days. Helix offers a variety of mattress options.

Helix mattresses can be described as hybrids because their coil cores make it easier for air to move around the entire bed. The result is that odors are less likely to persist than with an all foam mattress.

If the scent bothers you, you could choose to leave the mattress exposed in a well-ventilated space for a few hours.

Helix Sleeping Style and Body Weight

Side Sleepers

Helix-sunset-sideFinding a mattress with the ideal ratio of support to cushioning is the key to sleeping well on your side. The mattress should allow the shoulders and hips to sink into it. This will help align the spine and relieve strain. Mattresses with a “medium” feel, closer to the soft end of the range, are often preferred by side sleepers.

Side bed sleepers less than 130lbs will enjoy the plush padding on the Moonlight and Dusk models. For those who want a cozier environment, the Moonlight is an excellent choice.

Side sleepers who are between 130 and 230 lbs should be able to use the Midnight/Dusk. Most people in this weight range will love the models’ combination for powerful contouring as well as support.

If you are a side sleeping person who weighs more than 230lbs, the Plus, and to a lesser extent the Twilight, are your best options. The firmer feel of these models will prevent side sleepers who are heavier than 230 pounds from sinking too deeply into their beds. Helix Dynamic Foam provides cushioning and bounce. The Plus is made for larger people. The foam comfort layers provide the needed cradling to relieve pressure on the hips and shoulders.

Back Sleepers

Back sleepers require a mixture of support, contouring, and cushioning. Side sleepers prefer less cushioning.

For back sleep to be comfortable, you will need to provide support and firmness in the lumbar region. This is important to avoid sinking too deep and creating spinal misalignment. Your spine should be balanced by the position of your back on a bed.

This is why side sleepers prefer mattresses that are firmer, but not as rigid as stomach sleepers.

The Midnight might be the best option for back-sleepers under 130 pounds depending on their needs. It provides the right amount of support and cushioning that this sleeping position requires.

A wide variety of options are available for those who weigh between 130 – 230 lbs. These people might like the Plus or Twilight for their back. Both provide enough plushness to cushion the spine and great support for the lower back. Due to their reliable support and reasonable firmness, they are both Dusk and Dawn are also excellent.

For those who weigh more over 230 pounds who sleep on their backs, the Plus, Twilight, and Dawn are great options. They provide excellent support to the weight range and prevent your hips from sinking in the mattress.

Stomach Sleepers

As the main weight bearing part of a person’s body, torsos are usually heavier. Stomach-sleepers are more likely than other sleepers to place greater strain on their mattresses. They also tend to sink deeper than those in other positions. If they sink too far, they run the risk of pushing their spines out their normal alignment. This could lead to aches and pains later. These stomach sleepers should have a mattress that’s firmer, supportive, and provides enough support to maintain their spine alignment.

Helix models with a firmer surface will be the most comfortable for stomach sleepers. This is because they require a level surface for proper spinal alignment. The Plus and Dawn are good options for those who weigh over 130 pounds and want to sleep well. Thanks to their support and hardiness, the central part of the mattress is strong enough not to cause excessive weight loss. To provide stomach sleepers with this weight, a cushion which is comfortable will be sufficient.

Because the Midnight feels medium-firm it’s suitable for stomach sleepers below 130 pounds. For heavier people, however, the Midnight will sink too deep. The Twilight may also work well for stomach sleepers of lighter weight, especially those weighing between 130 and 230lbs.
