Helix Mattress Performance

Motion Isolation

helix-dawn-sideThe majority of Helix mattresses are excellent at preventing movement. Many movements are absorbed by the foam layers. However, comfort layers’ latex-like memory foam is much springier than regular memory foam. Due to the springiness emanating form the coil’s core, it is possible to sense your partner moving throughout the night.

The memory foam layers and soft feel of the Helix models make the Dusk and Sunset absorb the most motion than any other models.

Two comfort layers are included in the Plus, which keep most coil motions from reaching its springy coil core.

You may experience less vibration on the mattress’ surface.

This reduces the amount of noise that is transmitted across the mattress. The amount of motion transmission during the moonlight, dawn and midnight is very low, which may lessen your ability to go to sleep.

Pressure Relief

Helix mattresses reduce pressure. This is partly due to the Helix mattress’ layers of memory foam, pocketed coils, and polyfoam. The foam allows deep relaxation and self-cradling which may reduce pressure on pressure points like the hips, shoulders and hips. Side sleepers and those under 130 lbs. are more demanding. are better met by the softer mattresses. Firmer mattresses would be a better choice for those who sleep on the stomach or back, or who are more than 230lbs.

The finest pressure relief is provided by the moonlight, dusk, sunset, and midnight, in part because of the plusher surfaces. The Plus is designed for heavier people and may help to alleviate pressure points. Twilight and Dawn have a harder sensation, which will increase resistance to pressure points. This reduces the efficacy these products in this area.

Temperature Control

When it comes to sleeping cool, Helix mattresses perform around average for hybrids.

Memory foam mattresses have a reputation for making you feel hot while you sleep. It often holds on to heat all night. But these mattresses’ coils allow air to flow through them to assist counteract heat loss.

The Dawn is more comfortable because of its firmness and lack sinkage. To further reduce heat loss, the Plus comes with two cooling covers.

Edge Support

Each Helix model features an encasement that’s strengthened in the coil’s core. This reduces sinkage when someone lies on their back or sits on their bed edge. Every model has a different level support due to its structure and stiffness.

The Dawn and Twilight, for example, provide excellent edge support due to their strong design. Because to their sturdy build, they also provide superb edge support. Additionally, Dusk, Midnight, and Plus provide sufficient support for the edges.

Moonlight the Moonlight, Sunset and Sunset are the most luxurious models. You’ll feel less sinking while you sleep or be close to the edge. They have the lowest edge support of all Helix mattress models.

Ease of Movement

The model’s ability to move is the main distinguishing feature. The deep sinking Moonlight and setting sun make it difficult to walk on this surface.

Twilight and Dawn models however, feel firmer and more comfortable. It is considerably simpler to shift about and get out of bed with the Dawn and Twilight models’ powerful pushback against the body.

The Line with Plus’s plush comfort system with two layers may make it more difficult to move, but the firmness of the mattress still allows for enough movement.

Sex

Helix mattresses are known for their coil cores which provide some spring and bounce. Many couples enjoy Helix mattress sex. The mattress’s design will determine how the foam layers affect the sexual experience.

The Helix Dawn’s smooth surfaces and Twilight make it easier to move around, making them ideal for couples. Dusk, midnight, plus, and plus are the best times for sex. Moonlight and sunset, however, will make it more challenging. These models have soft, plush surfaces that can restrict movement.

Off-Gassing

Helix models start with the same standard amount of “new-mattress scent” that all foam mattresses have.

This smell is often thought to be safe and goes away after a few days. Helix offers a number of various mattress options.

Helix mattresses that are hybrids have more air circulation because of their coil cores. Because Helix mattresses are hybrids, odors will disappear faster than they would with an allfoam mattress.

You can leave the mattress open for a few hours if the smell bothers you.

Helix Sleeping Style and Body Weight

Side Sleepers

Helix-sunset-sideTo sleep well on your side, you need a mattress that offers the right balance of support and cushioning. To alleviate strain and align your spine, you need your hips and shoulders to sink into the mattress. Side sleepers will prefer mattresses with a more “medium” feel. They are closer to softening the range.

Side sleepers under 130 pounds will love the plush padding of the Moonlight and Dusk models. The Moonlight is a good option for people who like a cozier atmosphere.

Side sleepers between 130 to 230 pounds are best suited for the Midnight and Dusk’s firmness. Models’ combination of support and contouring will appeal to most sleepers who are in this weight range.

If you’re a side sleeper and weigh more than 230 pounds, the Plus or, to a lesser degree, the Twilight are your best options. People who are side sleepers will not sink too deeply into these models due to their firmer feel. Helix Dynamic Foam gives the Plus cushioning and bounce. And, because the Plus is built for larger individuals, the foam comfort layers provide the required cradling that relieves pressure from the shoulders and hips.

Back Sleepers

Side sleepers need less cushioning but still require support.

Back sleeping is more difficult than usual. You need extra support in the lumbar and back regions to prevent your spine from sinking. The posture of your back on the bed ensures that your spine is reasonably even.

This is why back sleepers choose mattresses that have a firmer feel than side sleepers and not as stiff as stomach sleepers.

The Midnight is a good option for back sleepers who weigh less than 130 pounds. This mattress provides the perfect amount of support and cushioning for back sleepers.

The options are endless for people who weigh between 130 and 220 pounds. Back sleepers with this weight might find the Plus or Twilight suitable. Both provide enough plushness to cushion the spine and great support for the lower back. Dusk and Dawn both offer excellent support and are firm but not too firm.

The Plus, Twilight or Dawn are great options if you weigh more than 220 pounds and prefer to sleep on your back. To prevent hips from sinking into the mattress, they provide great support for the weight range.

Stomach Sleepers

As the main weight bearing part of a person’s body, torsos are usually heavier. Stomach sleepers put greater strain on their mattresses and have a propensity to sink deeper than other positions. If they are too far down, their spines could become twisted and form a U-shaped shape. This can lead to later aches, and pains. Ultimately, stomach sleepers need a mattress that is firmer, more supportive, and has enough push-back to keep their backs in alignment.

Helix models that are thicker and more comfortable will suit stomach sleepers. They need a level surface to ensure proper spinal alignment. For those over 130lbs who wish to get a good night’s sleep, the Plus and Dawn may be a better choice. Due to its hardness and support, the central area of the mattress is strong enough to prevent excessive weight loss. So a cushion that’s comfortable will give stomach sleepers in this range the support they need.

Because it is medium-firm, the Midnight is suitable for stomach sleepers less than 130 pounds. But, people who are heavier will not sink as deep. The Twilight might be suitable for stomach sleepers with lighter weights, particularly those who weigh between 130-230 pounds.
