Overview Helix Mattress Firm

Helix, a direct-to-consumer mattress company, is well-known for its sleep studies. This quiz suggests the ideal mattress based on a person’s weight, preferred sleeping position, and sleeping style. The Helix series includes of seven primary variants to accommodate various sleeping preferences. Helix Mattress Firm

Helix Sunset, Helix Moonlight, and Helix Sunset are the most soft versions. Helix Midnight (and Helix Dusk) are two models that fall within the medium category. Helix Sunset Helix Twilight Helix Dawn, Helix Plus, and Helix Plus are three of the most commonly used models. The line’s firmest models are Helix Plus.

Helix is responsible for the Sunset. Helix kept side sleepers in mind when creating the Sunset, Midnight and Twilight. Lunar Light Midnight, Dusk and Dawn are designed with stomach sleepers and backs in mind. The Plus is specially designed for people who are larger. Helix mattresses are designed with specific weight categories in mind. However, some people may like how it feels.

With the exception of Plus, every model is available in both the Luxe and normal editions. This optional update extends the coil system to provide zonal support for spinal alignment. This allows the hips to be supported and the shoulders to sink further. To give it a luxurious feel, the cushion’s top is quilted with Luxe Edition. Tencel cover allows for better ventilation of the mattress, while also removing moisture. The upgrade comes with a 15-year warranty, in addition to the standard 10-year guarantee.

The Dawn, Dusk and Midnight versions, Sunset, Moonlight, Sunset, Twilight, and Midnight versions are each 12 inches thick. The luxury versions are 14 inch thick. The Plus is 13 inches thick in addition. Helix mattresses might require large pockets, as they could be viewed as high-profile.

Helix Mattress Performance

Motion Isolation

helix-dawn-sideHelix mattresses are great at keeping you from moving. Foam layers absorb a lot of movement. The latex-like polyfoam of comfort layers is, however, springier than ordinary memory. Due to the springiness emanating form the coil’s core, it is possible to sense your partner moving throughout the night.

Dusk, Sunset have the highest motion absorption of any Helix model due to their memory foam layers.

The Plus also has two comfort layers that prevent most coil movements from reaching the springy core of the mattress.

This may result in less vibration traveling over the mattress’ surface.

The amount of noise transferred to the mattress is therefore reduced. You might be able to sleep more easily if your partner is not around.

Pressure Relief

Helix mattresses reduce pressure. This is partly due to the Helix mattress’ layers of memory foam, pocketed coils, and polyfoam. The foam allows deep relaxation and self-cradling which may reduce pressure on pressure points like the hips, shoulders and hips. Side sleepers (or anyone below 130 lbs) have specific needs. Softer mattresses are more suitable for side sleepers and those who weigh less than 130 lbs. Firmer mattresses are recommended for those who prefer to sleep on their stomachs or backs or for those who weigh over 230 pounds.

The moonlight, sunset, sunrise, and night are the best times to relieve pressure. This is partly due to the plusher surfaces. The Plus is specially designed for heavier sleepers and may reduce pressure points. Due to Twilight and Dawn’s more intense sensations, sleepers will be less likely to experience pressure points. This can reduce the effectiveness of these products.

Temperature Control

When it comes to sleeping cool, Helix mattresses perform around average for hybrids.

Memory foam mattresses are known for heating you while you sleep. This is because it holds heat throughout the night. The coils in these mattresses allow for air to flow through them, which helps to reduce heat loss.

The Dawn is more comfortable because of its firmness and lack sinkage. Two cooling covers are included with the Plus to further aid with heat dissipation.

Edge Support

Every Helix model is equipped with an encasement, which is strengthened within its core. The coil’s core is strengthened, so there is less sinkage when the person sits or lies on the edge of their bed. However, owing in large part to the quality of the construction and stiffness, each model has a varying level of edge support.

Twilight and Dawn, for instance, offer excellent edge support thanks to their sturdy designs. They provide excellent edge support due to their strong build. Dusk, Midnight and Plus also provide enough support for the edges.

Moonlight the Moonlight, Sunset and Sunset are the most luxurious models. You’ll feel less sinking while you sleep or be close to the edge. They provide the smallest amount of edge support than all Helix mattresses.

Ease of Movement

The model’s quality primarily sets the ease of movement apart as a separate class. It is hard to walk on the ground due to the sinking Moonlight, which is softer than the Sun.

Twilight and Dawn models, on the other hand, have a firmer, more pleasant sensation. It is considerably simpler to shift about and get out of bed with the Dawn and Twilight models’ powerful pushback against the body.

The Line with the Plus has a two-layer comfort system. Although it is a bit more difficult than other hybrids to move on, the bed’s firmness allows for sufficient movement.

Sex

The Helix mattresses may provide some spring and bounce because of their coil cores, which many couples enjoy during sex. The mattress’s design will determine how the foam layers affect the sexual experience.

The Helix Dawn’s smooth surfaces make it easy for couples to move around. Also, while dusk, night, and plus are great times to have sex, moonlight and sunset can make it more difficult. These models have soft, plush surfaces that can restrict movement.

Off-Gassing

Helix models start with the same standard amount of “new-mattress scent” that all foam mattresses have.

This smell is often considered to be normal and goes away within a few hours. Helix has many mattress options.

Helix hybrid mattresses have coil cores that allow for more air to flow across the entire bed. This means that the odors from Helix mattresses will dissipate faster than they would from an all-foam one.

You could leave the mattress unventilated for a couple of hours if you find the scent to be bothersome.

Helix Sleeping Style and Body Weight

Side Sleepers

Helix-sunset-sideTo sleep well on your side, you need a mattress that offers the right balance of support and cushioning. For proper alignment and relief of strain, the hips and shoulders should be free to sink into a mattress. Side sleepers will prefer mattresses with a more “medium” feel. They are closer to softening the range.

Side sleepers with a weight below 130 pounds will appreciate the plush padding offered by the Moonlight, Dusk, and Moonlight models. For those who want a cozier environment, the Moonlight is an excellent choice.

Side sleepers who are between 130 and 230 lbs should be able to use the Midnight/Dusk. Most people in this weight range will love the models’ combination for powerful contouring as well as support.

If you are a side sleeping person who weighs more than 230lbs, the Plus, and to a lesser extent the Twilight, are your best options. These models’ firmer feel will keep folks who fall into this type of side sleepers from sinking too deep into their beds. Helix Dynamic Foam provides cushioning and bounce. The Plus is made for larger people. The foam comfort layers provide the needed cradling to relieve pressure on the hips and shoulders.

Back Sleepers

Back sleepers require a mixture of support, contouring, and cushioning. Side sleepers prefer less cushioning.

Back sleeping typically requires a bit extra support and hardness, especially in the lumbar region to prevent sinking too deeply and causing spinal misalignment. Your spine should be balanced by the position of your back on a bed.

This is why back sleepers choose mattresses that have a firmer feel than side sleepers and not as stiff as stomach sleepers.

The Midnight may be the right choice for backs that weigh less than 130lbs. It depends on your needs. It provides the right amount of support and cushioning that this sleeping position requires.

The options are endless for people who weigh between 130 and 220 pounds. The Plus or Twilight might be a good choice for back sleepers who are in this weight range. Both offer enough cushioning to cushion the spine, and support for the lower back. Dusk and Dawn both offer excellent support and are firm but not too firm.

The Plus, Twilight, or Dawn are great options for people who are heavier than 230 lbs and sleep on their stomachs. These mattresses provide support for all weight categories to prevent hips sinking into the mattress.

Stomach Sleepers

The majority of someone’s weight is carried by their torsos. Stomach sleepers place greater stress on their mattresses and are more likely to sink further than in other positions. If they are too far down, their spines could become twisted and form a U-shaped shape. It can cause later aches and discomforts. Ultimately, stomach sleepers need a mattress that is firmer, more supportive, and has enough push-back to keep their backs in alignment.

Helix models with a firmer surface will be the most comfortable for stomach sleepers. This is because they require a level surface for proper spinal alignment. If you are over 130 pounds, the Plus or Dawn might be the best option for you. Due to its hardness and support, the central area of the mattress is strong enough to prevent excessive weight loss. To provide stomach sleepers with this weight, a cushion which is comfortable will be sufficient.

Because the Midnight feels medium-firm it’s suitable for stomach sleepers below 130 pounds. But, people who are heavier will not sink as deep. The Twilight might be suitable for stomach sleepers with lighter weights, particularly those who weigh between 130-230 pounds.
