Helix Mattress Rating

Overview Helix Mattress Rating

Helix, an online mattress manufacturer that sells directly to consumers, is well-known because of its sleep study. This quiz helps you determine the ideal mattress by analyzing your body, weight, sleeping style, and preferred sleeping position. There are seven options in the Helix series that can be used to meet different preferences. Helix Mattress Rating

Helix Sunset and Helix Moonlight are the softest versions available from the manufacturer. Helix Midnight and Helix Dusk are two examples of medium models. Helix Sunset The most often used models are Helix Twilight, Helix Dawn, and Helix Plus. Helix Plus are the strongest models in this line.

Helix makes the Sunset. Helix considered side sleepers when designing the Sunset and Midnight, as well as the Twilight. Lunar Light Midnight and Dawn, as well as Dusk & Dawn, were designed with stomach and back sleeping in mind. The Plus is specially designed for people who are larger. Helix makes each mattress with specific weights and sleep positions in mind. But, for some people, the Plus may feel great.

All models, except for the Plus edition, come in both the Luxe as well as the normal editions. The update, which is optional, extends the coil system to provide zonal lumbar support to aid in more effective spinal alignment. This is accomplished by supporting the hips while allowing the shoulders to descend farther. To give the cushion a plush feeling, the Luxe version of the top quilt is applied to it. The Tencel cover promotes ventilation into the mattress while assisting in the removal of moisture. In addition to the 10-year standard guarantee, the upgrade includes a 15 year warranty.

The Dawn, Dusk Midnight and Sunset versions are 12 inches thick. Twilight’s luxurious version is 14 inches. The Plus is 13 inches thick in addition. Since Helix mattresses may be high-profile, you might need to have large pockets.

We’ll review each Helix mattress, including its construction and reviews. We’ll also be listing some of the potential benefits to help determine which model might work best for your needs.

Helix Mattress Performance

Motion Isolation

helix-dawn-sideThe majority of Helix mattresses are excellent at preventing movement. The foam layers absorb most movement. The comfort layers’ latex-like polyfoam, however, is springier than ordinary memory foam. Due to the springiness emanating form the coil’s core, it is possible to sense your partner moving throughout the night.

Dusk, Sunset have the highest motion absorption of any Helix model due to their memory foam layers.

Two comfort layers are included in the Plus, which keep most coil motions from reaching its springy coil core.

You may experience less vibration on the mattress’ surface.

As a result, the noise transmitted over the mattress is less. You might be able to sleep more easily if your partner is not around.

Pressure Relief

Helix mattresses offer pressure relief. This is partially due to the pocketsed coils, memory foam and polyfoam layers. The foam is able to induce deep relaxation and self cradling, which can reduce pressure points like the hips. Side sleepers and anyone less than 130 lbs. have special needs. Softer mattresses will be more accommodating to their needs. Firmer mattresses are recommended for those who prefer to sleep on their stomachs or backs or for those who weigh over 230 pounds.

The finest pressure relief is provided by the moonlight, dusk, sunset, and midnight, in part because of the plusher surfaces. The Plus is designed for heavier people and may help to alleviate pressure points. Dawn and Twilight’s harder sensation will result in higher resistance to pressure points on sleepers, which lessens the efficacy of these products in this region.

Temperature Control

When it comes to sleeping cool, Helix mattresses perform around average for hybrids.

Memory foam mattresses can cause you to feel warm as you sleep. The mattress often stores heat and keeps it. However, these mattresses’ coils allow for air flow to help counter heat loss.

The Dawn’s firmness as well as its lack of sinkage makes it feel cooler than other types. To further reduce heat loss, the Plus comes with two cooling covers.

Edge Support

Every Helix model comes with an encasement which is reinforced within the core of the coil. As a result, less sinkage occurs when a person sits or lays on the edge of their bed. Each model offers a different level of edge support, due to its quality and stiffness.

Twilight and Dawn provide the best edge support because of their sturdy design. Because to their sturdy build, they also provide superb edge support. Additionally, Dusk, Midnight, and Plus provide sufficient support for the edges.

Moonlight the Moonlight & Sunset are the most extravagant models. These mattresses will allow you to sink less or stay close to the edge. These mattresses offer the most support at the edges than any other Helix mattress.

Ease of Movement

The ease of movement is primarily determined by the model’s quality. The surface is slippery due to the sinking Moonlight as well as the soft Moonlight.

Twilight and Dawn models on the other side have a firmer, pleasanter sensation. The powerful pushback against the body of Dawn and Twilight models makes it easier to move around and get out from bed.

The Line with a Plus bed has two layers of comfort. However, it’s a little more difficult to move than other hybrids.

Sex

Helix mattresses have coil cores that provide spring and bounce, which couples often enjoy when having sex. The level of conforming or sinking of the foam layers can affect how sexual experiences are enhanced or diminished depending on the mattress design.

The Helix Dawn’s smooth surfaces make it easy for couples to move around. In terms of sex, the ideal times are dusk to midnight and plus. However, moonlight or sunsets will be more difficult. These models have plush, soft surface that could restrict motion.

Off-Gassing

Helix models are initially equipped with the standard “new mattress fragrance” which is common for all foam mattresses.

This smell is generally considered to be harmless and will disappear after a few weeks. Helix offers a variety of mattress options.

Helix hybrid mattresses have coil cores that allow for more air to flow across the entire bed. As a result, the odors will dissipate quicker than they would with an all-foam mattress.

You can leave the mattress open for a few hours if the smell bothers you.

Helix Sleeping Style and Body Weight

Side Sleepers

Helix-sunset-sideA mattress that has the right amount of support and cushions is key to good sleep. To relieve strain and align the spine, the hips and shoulders need to be free to sink into the mattress. Mattresses with a “medium” feel, closer to the soft end of the range, are often preferred by side sleepers.

Side bed sleepers less than 130lbs will enjoy the plush padding on the Moonlight and Dusk models. People who prefer a more cozy atmosphere will love the Moonlight.

The fairly firm Midnight and Dusk are best suited for side sleepers who weigh between 130 and 230 pounds. This weight range is the majority of those who will benefit from the models’ powerful contouring and support.

If you are a side sleeping person who weighs more than 230lbs, the Plus, and to a lesser extent the Twilight, are your best options. These models’ firmer feel will keep folks who fall into this type of side sleepers from sinking too deep into their beds. Helix Dynamic Faam layers give cushioning and bounce. Plus models are designed for larger people. Foam comfort layers provide the necessary support to alleviate pressure on the shoulders.

Back Sleepers

Back sleepers require a mixture of support, contouring, and cushioning. Side sleepers prefer less cushioning.

Back sleeping typically requires a bit extra support and hardness, especially in the lumbar region to prevent sinking too deeply and causing spinal misalignment. Your spine will remain fairly level by how your back is placed on the bed.

This is why back sleepers often choose mattresses that are firmer than those preferred by side sleepers but not as stiff as those preferred by stomach sleepers.

The Midnight could be the best choice for back sleepers less than 130 lbs, depending on their requirements. This mattress provides the perfect amount of support and cushioning for back sleepers.

The options are endless for people who weigh between 130 and 220 pounds. The Plus or Twilight might be a good choice for back sleepers who are in this weight range. Both offer sufficient cushioning for the spine and excellent support for the lower part of the back. They are both Dusk as well as Dawn excellent because of their firmness and reliability.

The Plus and Twilight mattresses are excellent options for those who weigh over 230lbs who sleep on the back. To prevent hips from sinking into the mattress, they provide great support for the weight range.

Stomach Sleepers

Because torsos typically bear the bulk of a person’s weight, Stomach sleepers are more likely to put stress on their mattresses, and sink deeper than others. If they are too far down, their spines could become twisted and form a U-shaped shape. This can lead to later aches, and pains. The bottom line is that stomach sleepers need a mattress which is firmer, more supportive and offers enough support to align their backs.

For stomach sleepers who need a flat surface to maintain proper spine alignment, the firmer Helix models will be more comfortable. Those who weigh more than 130 pounds who want to sleep well might choose the Plus and Dawn. Because they are strong and supportive, the central portion of the mattress will reduce the chance of you losing weight. A cushion that is supportive and comfortable will offer the support stomach sleepers of this weight range need.

Because it feels medium firm, the Midnight is best for stomach sleepers weighing less than 130lbs. However, heavier people will sink too far. For stomach sleepers who are lighter in weight, especially those who weigh between 130 and 230 pounds, the Twilight may also be appropriate.
