Overview Helix Mattress Reviews Consumer Reports

Helix, a mattress manufacturer selling direct to consumers, is known for its sleep studies. The quiz determines the best mattress for you based on your weight, preferred sleeping position, as well as your sleeping style. To accommodate different sleeping preferences, the Helix series offers seven variants. Helix Mattress Reviews Consumer Reports

Helix Sunset & Helix Moonlight: These are the softest models from the manufacturer. Helix Midnight (and Helix Dusk) are two models that fall within the medium category. Helix Sunset Helix Twilight Helix Dawn, Helix Plus, and Helix Plus are three of the most commonly used models. Helix Plus is the firmest model in the Helix Plus line.

Helix is responsible for the Sunset. Helix considered side sleepers when designing the Sunset and Midnight, as well as the Twilight. Lunar Light The Midnight, Dusk, and Dawn have been designed with stomach and back sleepers in mind. The Plus was designed specifically for those with larger bodies. Helix makes each mattress with specific weights and sleep positions in mind. But, for some people, the Plus may feel great.

Every model, except the Plus comes in both the Luxe or normal editions. This optional update extends the coil system to provide zonal support for spinal alignment. This allows the hips to be supported and the shoulders to sink further. To give the cushion a more luxurious feel, the Luxe edition quilts the top. Tencel cover allows for better ventilation of the mattress, while also removing moisture. In addition to the 10-year standard guarantee, the upgrade includes a 15 year warranty.

The standard versions of the Dawn, Dusk, Midnight, Moonlight, Sunset, and Twilight are 12 inches thick, while the luxurious versions are 14 inches thick. Additionally, the Plus measures 13 inches in thickness. Since Helix mattresses may be high-profile, you might need to have large pockets.

We will be examining the construction and reviews for each Helix mattress. We’ll also be listing some of the potential benefits to help determine which model might work best for your needs.

Helix Mattress Performance

Motion Isolation

helix-dawn-sideThe majority of Helix mattresses are excellent at preventing movement. Foam layers absorb a lot of movement. The comfort layers’ latex-like polyfoam, however, is springier than ordinary memory foam. The springiness emanating out of the coil’s center may allow you to detect your partner’s movements during the night.

Dusk & Sunset absorb the most movement of all Helix models due to their memory foam layers.

Two comfort layers are included in the Plus, which keep most coil motions from reaching its springy coil core.

As a result, less vibration may travel over the surface of the mattress.

As a consequence, noise transmission is decreased over the mattress. Motion transmission is modest during moonlight, dawn, and midnight, which might lessen the impact of your partner’s movements on your ability to sleep.

Pressure Relief

Helix mattresses are known for their ability to reduce pressure. This is due in part to the pockets of coils and memory foam. The foam is able to induce deep relaxation and self cradling, which can reduce pressure points like the hips. Side sleepers and anyone less than 130 lbs. have special needs. Softer mattresses are more suitable for side sleepers and those who weigh less than 130 lbs. For those who like to sleep on their stomach or back or who weigh more than 230 pounds, however, firmer mattresses are recommended.

Moonlight, dusk and sunset provide the best pressure relief, partly because they have plusher surfaces. The Plus is specially designed for heavier sleepers and may reduce pressure points. Twilight and Dawn will have a stronger sensation which will make it more difficult for sleepers to feel pressure points. This decreases the effectiveness of these products.

Temperature Control

When it comes to sleeping cool, Helix mattresses perform around average for hybrids.

Because memory foam mattresses often retain heat, they can make you feel warm while you sleep. These mattresses have coils that allow air to circulate through them to counter heat loss.

The Dawn is more comfortable because of its firmness and lack sinkage. To further assist heat dissipation the Plus also includes two cooling covers.

Edge Support

Each Helix model includes an encasement made from the coil’s inner core. The coil’s core is strengthened, so there is less sinkage when the person sits or lies on the edge of their bed. Every model has a different level support due to its structure and stiffness.

Twilight and Dawn offer the best edge support, thanks to their solid design. Because to their sturdy build, they also provide superb edge support. Dusk and Midnight are also available. Plus provides sufficient support for edges.

Moonlight the Moonlight & Sunset are the most extravagant models. These mattresses will allow you to sink less or stay close to the edge. They provide the least amount of edge support of all Helix mattresses.

Ease of Movement

The model’s design is what sets it apart from other classes. Because of the sinking Moonlight and setting sun, it is very difficult to walk on the surface.

Twilight and Dawn models, on the other hand, have a firmer, more pleasant sensation. The powerful pushback against the body of Dawn and Twilight models makes it easier to move around and get out from bed.

The two-layer comfort system of the Line with the Plus may make the bed a little harder to move about on than other hybrids, but the firmness still allows for a sufficient amount of movement.

Sex

Helix mattresses can provide spring and bounce due to their coil cores. This is something many couples love when having sex. Depending on the design of the mattress, the degree of conforming and sinking provided by the foam layers may enhance or detract from the sexual experience.

The Helix Dawn and Twilight have smooth surfaces that make moving around easier, making them excellent choices for couples. Also, while dusk, night, and plus are great times to have sex, moonlight and sunset can make it more difficult. These models have soft, plush surfaces which may limit motion.

Off-Gassing

Helix models start with the same standard amount of “new-mattress scent” that all foam mattresses have.

The smell is usually considered safe and disappears after a few days. Helix offers several mattress options.

Helix mattresses are hybrids. Their coil cores allow more air to circulate across the bed because they have multiple coils. As a result, the odors will dissipate quicker than they would with an all-foam mattress.

If the smell is bothersome, you might leave the mattress out in a well-ventilated place for a few days.

Helix Sleeping Style and Body Weight

Side Sleepers

Helix-sunset-sideTo sleep well on your side, you need a mattress that offers the right balance of support and cushioning. The mattress should allow the shoulders and hips to sink into it. This will help align the spine and relieve strain. Side sleepers are more comfortable with mattresses that feel “medium”, closer to the soft range.

Side sleepers with a weight below 130 pounds will appreciate the plush padding offered by the Moonlight, Dusk, and Moonlight models. The Moonlight is a good option for people who like a cozier atmosphere.

The fairly firm Midnight and Dusk are best suited for side sleepers who weigh between 130 and 230 pounds. The majority of sleepers in this weight range will enjoy the models’ blend of powerful contouring and support.

The Plus and, to a lesser extent, the Twilight, are the best options if you are a side sleeper who weighs more over 230 pounds. These models’ firmer feel will keep folks who fall into this type of side sleepers from sinking too deep into their beds. Helix Dynamic Faam layers give cushioning and bounce. Plus models are designed for larger people. Foam comfort layers provide the necessary support to alleviate pressure on the shoulders.

Back Sleepers

Back sleepers require a mixture of support, contouring, and cushioning. Side sleepers prefer less cushioning.

Back sleeping is more difficult than usual. You need extra support in the lumbar and back regions to prevent your spine from sinking. Your spine should be balanced by the position of your back on a bed.

This is why back sleepers choose mattresses that have a firmer feel than side sleepers and not as stiff as stomach sleepers.

The Midnight could be the best choice for back sleepers less than 130 lbs, depending on their requirements. It provides the ideal amount of cushioning and support for this sleeping posture.

There are many options for those who weigh between 130-230 pounds and between 130-230 pounds. Back sleepers that fall into this weight range might do well in the Twilight or the Plus. They both provide sufficient plushness to support the spine and the lower back. Dusk and Dawn both offer excellent support and are firm but not too firm.

The Plus, Twilight and Dawn are great choices for those who sleep on their backs and weigh more than 230 pounds. They offer great support for weight ranges to prevent hips and backs from sinking under the mattress.

Stomach Sleepers

Because torsos typically bear the bulk of a person’s weight, Stomach sleepers place greater stress on their mattresses and are more likely to sink further than in other positions. If they fall too far, they can push their spines out from their normal alignment. It can cause later aches and discomforts. These stomach sleepers should have a mattress that’s firmer, supportive, and provides enough support to maintain their spine alignment.

Helix models with a firmer surface will be the most comfortable for stomach sleepers. This is because they require a level surface for proper spinal alignment. The Plus and Dawn are good options for those who weigh over 130 pounds and want to sleep well. Because they are strong and supportive, the central portion of the mattress will reduce the chance of you losing weight. Therefore, a cushion that is comfortable will provide the support that stomach sleepers in this weight range require.

The Midnight is appropriate for stomach sleepers under 130 pounds since it feels medium-firm. But, people who are heavier will not sink as deep. The Twilight is also suitable for stomach sleepers who are lighter, especially those who weigh between 130 to 230 pounds.
