Helix mattresses are designed with specific weight categories in mind. However, some people may like how it feels.

All models, except for the Plus edition, come in both the Luxe as well as the normal editions. The optional update increases the coil system to provide zonallumbar support. This will help in better spinal alignment. This is accomplished by supporting the hips while allowing the shoulders to descend farther. To give the cushion a plush feeling, the Luxe version of the top quilt is applied to it. The Tencel cover promotes ventilation into the mattress while assisting in the removal of moisture. Along with the 10-year guarantee, the upgrade also includes a 15-year warranty.

Helix Mattress Performance

Motion Isolation

helix-dawn-sideHelix mattresses have a great track record of preventing movement. Foam layers can absorb much of the movement. The comfort layers’ latex-like polyfoam, however, is springier than ordinary memory foam. Due to the springiness emanating form the coil’s core, it is possible to sense your partner moving throughout the night.

Dusk & Sunset absorb the most movement of all Helix models due to their memory foam layers.

The Plus also has two comfort layers that prevent most coil movements from reaching the springy core of the mattress.

As a result, less vibration may travel over the surface of the mattress.

As a consequence, noise transmission is decreased over the mattress. Motion transmission is modest during moonlight, dawn, and midnight, which might lessen the impact of your partner’s movements on your ability to sleep.

Pressure Relief

Helix mattresses have a number of benefits, including pressure reduction. This can partly be attributed to the layers memory foam, polyfoam and pocketed coils. The foam can be used to relax deeply and allow for self-cradling. This may help reduce pressure points such pressure points as the hips and shoulders. Side sleepers (or anyone below 130 lbs) have specific needs. Softer mattresses can better meet their needs. For those who like to sleep on their stomach or back or who weigh more than 230 pounds, however, firmer mattresses are recommended.

Because of their plusher surfaces, the moonlight, dusk-sunset, sunset and midnight provide the most effective pressure relief. The Plus is designed for heavier people and may help to alleviate pressure points. Twilight and Dawn will have a stronger sensation which will make it more difficult for sleepers to feel pressure points. This decreases the effectiveness of these products.

Temperature Control

Helix mattresses perform above average for hybrids in terms of sleeping cool.

Memory foam mattresses can cause you to feel warm as you sleep. The mattress often stores heat and keeps it. But these mattresses’ coils allow air to flow through them to assist counteract heat loss.

The Dawn’s firmness and lack of sinkage help it sleep cooler than the other types. Two cooling covers are included with the Plus to further aid with heat dissipation.

Edge Support

Each Helix model features an encasement that’s strengthened in the coil’s core. It reduces sinkage when people sit or lay on the edges of their beds. Each model, however, has a different degree of edge support. This is due in large part to its quality and stiffness.

Twilight and Dawn provide the best edge support because of their sturdy design. Because to their sturdy build, they also provide superb edge support. Dusk, Midnight, or Plus are sufficient to support the edges.

Moonlight the Moonlight & Sunset are the most extravagant models. These mattresses will allow you to sink less or stay close to the edge. They provide the smallest amount of edge support than all Helix mattresses.

Ease of Movement

The ease of movement is primarily determined by the model’s quality. It is difficult to walk on the surface because to the deep cradling and sink provided by the softer Moonlight and the setting sun.

Twilight and Dawn models on the other side have a firmer, pleasanter sensation. The powerful pushback against the body of Dawn and Twilight models makes it easier to move around and get out from bed.

The Line with the Plus has a two-layer comfort system. Although it is a bit more difficult than other hybrids to move on, the bed’s firmness allows for sufficient movement.

Sex

The Helix mattresses may provide some spring and bounce because of their coil cores, which many couples enjoy during sex. The mattress’s design will determine how the foam layers affect the sexual experience.

The Helix Dawn and Twilight have smooth surfaces that make moving around easier, making them excellent choices for couples. Dusk, midnight, plus, and plus are the best times for sex. Moonlight and sunset, however, will make it more challenging. These models have soft, plush surfaces which may limit motion.

Off-Gassing

Helix models start with the same standard amount of “new-mattress scent” that all foam mattresses have.

This smell is often thought to be safe and goes away after a few days. Helix offers several mattress options.

Because Helix mattresses are hybrids, their coil cores provide more air to move across the whole bed. This means that the odors from Helix mattresses will dissipate faster than they would from an all-foam one.

You could leave the mattress unventilated for a couple of hours if you find the scent to be bothersome.

Helix Sleeping Style and Body Weight

Side Sleepers

Helix-sunset-sideYou can sleep comfortably on your side if you find the right combination of support and cushioning in a mattress. To align the spine and alleviate strain, the hips should not be pressed against the mattress. Mattresses with a “medium” feel, closer to the soft end of the range, are often preferred by side sleepers.

Side sleepers with a weight below 130 pounds will appreciate the plush padding offered by the Moonlight, Dusk, and Moonlight models. For those who want a cozier environment, the Moonlight is an excellent choice.

The Midnight and Dusk models are best for side sleepers weighing between 130-230 pounds. This weight range is the majority of those who will benefit from the models’ powerful contouring and support.

The Plus and, to a lesser extent, the Twilight, are the best options if you are a side sleeper who weighs more over 230 pounds. People who are side sleepers will not sink too deeply into these models due to their firmer feel. Helix Dynamic Foam provides cushioning and bounce. The Plus is made for larger people. The foam comfort layers provide the needed cradling to relieve pressure on the hips and shoulders.

Back Sleepers

Back sleepers likewise want a mix of support and contouring, but they want less cushioning than side sleepers do.

To avoid spinal misalignment and sinking, back sleeping requires some extra support. You can ensure that your spine is fairly straight by placing your back on the mattress.

This is why side sleepers prefer mattresses that are firmer, but not as rigid as stomach sleepers.

The Midnight may be the best option for back sleepers under 130 pounds, depending on their needs. It provides the ideal amount to support this sleeping position and offers cushioning.

A wide variety of options are available for those who weigh between 130 – 230 lbs. Back sleepers who fall within this weight range may be able to use the Plus or Twilight. They both provide sufficient plushness to support the spine and the lower back. Due to their reliable support and reasonable firmness, they are both Dusk and Dawn are also excellent.

The Plus, Twilight or Dawn are great options if you weigh more than 220 pounds and prefer to sleep on your back. These mattresses provide support for all weight categories to prevent hips sinking into the mattress.

Stomach Sleepers

Because the majority of an individual’s weight is in their torsos, Stomach sleepers put greater strain on their mattresses and have a propensity to sink deeper than other positions. If they fall too far, they can push their spines out from their normal alignment. This could lead to aches and pains later. These stomach sleepers should have a mattress that’s firmer, supportive, and provides enough support to maintain their spine alignment.

The firmer Helix versions will be most comfortable for stomach sleepers, who require a level surface to preserve proper spinal alignment and alignment. People who are more than 130 lbs and who wish to sleep well may choose the Plus or Dawn. Due to its hardness and support, the central area of the mattress is strong enough to prevent excessive weight loss. Therefore, a cushion that is comfortable will provide the support that stomach sleepers in this weight range require.

Because it is medium-firm, the Midnight is suitable for stomach sleepers less than 130 pounds. For heavier people, however, the Midnight will sink too deep. The Twilight might be suitable for stomach sleepers with lighter weights, particularly those who weigh between 130-230 pounds.
