Overview Helix Mattress Trial

Helix, a direct to consumer mattress manufacturer, is known for its sleep research. This quiz suggests the ideal mattress based on a person’s weight, preferred sleeping position, and sleeping style. There are seven options in the Helix series that can be used to meet different preferences. Helix Mattress Trial

Helix Sunset and Helix Moonlight The manufacturer’s softest versions are Helix Sunset or Helix Moonlight. Helix Midnight or Helix Dusk would be two examples of the medium models. Helix Sunset Helix Twilight Helix Dawn Helix Plus and Helix Plus have the most common use models. Helix Plus are the strongest models in this line.

Helix is responsible for the Sunset. Helix considers side sleepers when designing the Sunsets, Midnights, and Twilight. Lunar Light Midnight, Dusk and Dawn are designed with stomach sleepers and backs in mind. The Plus was designed specifically for those with larger bodies. Helix mattresses are designed with specific weight categories in mind. However, some people may like how it feels.

Each model, with the exception of the Plus, comes in both the normal and Luxe editions. The optional update increases the coil system to provide zonallumbar support. This will help in better spinal alignment. The hips are supported while the shoulders drop farther. The Luxe edition of the quilt is used on the top to give the cushion a plush feel. Tencel covers encourage ventilation and aid in moisture removal. Upgrades come with an additional 15-year warranty in addition the usual 10-year guarantee.

Standard versions of the Dawn and Dusk, Midnight, Moonlight and Sunset are 12 inches thick. The luxurious versions are 14 inches. Plus measures 13 inches. Since Helix mattresses may be high-profile, you might need to have large pockets.

We will review the specifications, construction, and customer reviews for each Helix mattress. We’ll also be listing some of the potential benefits to help determine which model might work best for your needs.

Helix Mattress Performance

Motion Isolation

helix-dawn-sideHelix mattresses are great at keeping you from moving. Foam layers absorb a lot of movement. The latex-like polyfoam of comfort layers is, however, springier than ordinary memory. The springiness emanating out of the coil’s center may allow you to detect your partner’s movements during the night.

Dusk & Sunset absorb the most movement of all Helix models due to their memory foam layers.

The Plus features two comfort layers, which stop most coil motions contacting the mattress’ springy core.

This may result in less vibration traveling over the mattress’ surface.

As a result, the noise transmitted over the mattress is less. Motion transmission is modest during moonlight, dawn, and midnight, which might lessen the impact of your partner’s movements on your ability to sleep.

Pressure Relief

Helix mattresses reduce pressure. This is partly due to the Helix mattress’ layers of memory foam, pocketed coils, and polyfoam. The foam is able to induce deep relaxation and self cradling, which can reduce pressure points like the hips. Side sleepers, or those who weigh less than 130 lbs., have different needs. Softer mattresses are more suitable for side sleepers and those who weigh less than 130 lbs. Firmer mattresses would be a better choice for those who sleep on the stomach or back, or who are more than 230lbs.

Because of their plusher surfaces, the moonlight, dusk-sunset, sunset and midnight provide the most effective pressure relief. The Plus was designed specifically for those with more weight and may be effective in relieving pressure points for those who fall into this category. Twilight and Dawn will have a stronger sensation which will make it more difficult for sleepers to feel pressure points. This decreases the effectiveness of these products.

Temperature Control

When it comes to sleeping cool, Helix mattresses perform around average for hybrids.

Memory foam mattresses can cause you to feel warm as you sleep. The mattress often stores heat and keeps it. However, these mattresses’ coils allow for air flow to help counter heat loss.

The Dawn is more comfortable because of its firmness and lack sinkage. To aid heat dissipation, two cooling covers are included in the Plus.

Edge Support

Every Helix model comes with an encasement which is reinforced within the core of the coil. It reduces sinkage when people sit or lay on the edges of their beds. However, owing in large part to the quality of the construction and stiffness, each model has a varying level of edge support.

For instance, due to their sturdy design, the Dawn and Twilight provide the best edge support. Because to their sturdy build, they also provide superb edge support. Additionally, Dusk, Midnight, and Plus provide sufficient support for the edges.

Moonlight the Moonlight & Sunset are the most extravagant models. These mattresses will allow you to sink less or stay close to the edge. They provide the smallest amount of edge support than all Helix mattresses.

Ease of Movement

The model’s ability to move is the main distinguishing feature. Because of the sinking Moonlight and setting sun, it is very difficult to walk on the surface.

Twilight and Dawn models have a more comfortable, firmer sensation. The powerful pushback against the body of Dawn and Twilight models makes it easier to move around and get out from bed.

The Line with the Plus has a two-layer comfort system. Although it is a bit more difficult than other hybrids to move on, the bed’s firmness allows for sufficient movement.

Sex

Helix mattresses provide some spring and bounce thanks to their coil cores. Many couples find this a great option for sex. The mattress’s design will determine how the foam layers affect the sexual experience.

The Helix Dawn and Twilight’s smooth surfaces make moving about simpler, making them the best options for couples. Also, while dusk, night, and plus are great times to have sex, moonlight and sunset can make it more difficult. These models may be restricted by their soft, plush surfaces.

Off-Gassing

Helix models have the same amount of “new mattress smell” as all foam mattresses.

This is a common smell that is considered to be safe and usually disappears within a few days. Helix offers a variety of mattress options.

Because Helix mattresses are hybrids, their coil cores provide more air to move across the whole bed. This means that the odors from Helix mattresses will dissipate faster than they would from an all-foam one.

If the smell is bothersome, you might leave the mattress out in a well-ventilated place for a few days.

Helix Sleeping Style and Body Weight

Side Sleepers

Helix-sunset-sideA mattress that has the right amount of support and cushions is key to good sleep. To relieve strain and align the spine, the hips and shoulders need to be free to sink into the mattress. Side sleepers will prefer mattresses with a more “medium” feel. They are closer to softening the range.

The Dusk and Moonlight models’ plush padding will be appreciated by side bed sleepers who weigh less than 130 pounds. The Moonlight is for those who enjoy a more comfortable environment.

The Midnight and Dusk models are best for side sleepers weighing between 130-230 pounds. The majority of sleepers in this weight range will enjoy the models’ blend of powerful contouring and support.

The Plus and, to a lesser extent, the Twilight, are the best options if you are a side sleeper who weighs more over 230 pounds. This model’s firmer feel will help side sleepers not sink too deeply into their bed. Helix Dynamic Faam layers give cushioning and bounce. Plus models are designed for larger people. Foam comfort layers provide the necessary support to alleviate pressure on the shoulders.

Back Sleepers

Side sleepers need less cushioning but still require support.

To avoid spinal misalignment and sinking, back sleeping requires some extra support. Your spine will remain fairly level by how your back is placed on the bed.

Back sleepers tend to choose mattresses that are firmer than side sleepers, but not as stiff or flexible as stomach sleepers.

The Midnight might be the best option for back-sleepers under 130 pounds depending on their needs. It offers the ideal amount support and cushioning to this sleeping position.

There are many options for those who weigh between 130-230 pounds and between 130-230 pounds. Back sleepers that fall into this weight range might do well in the Twilight or the Plus. Both provide enough plushness to cushion the spine and great support for the lower back. Dusk and Dawn are equally excellent for their support and firmness.

The Plus, Twilight and Dawn are great choices for those who sleep on their backs and weigh more than 230 pounds. They offer great support for weight ranges to prevent hips and backs from sinking under the mattress.

Stomach Sleepers

Since torsos normally bear the majority of a person’s weight. Stomach sleepers place greater stress on their mattresses and are more likely to sink further than in other positions. If they fall too far, it can cause their spines to shift out of alignment. Later aches and pains may result from this. Stomach sleepers require a mattress that is firmer and more supportive. It should also have enough push-back to support their backs.

For stomach sleepers who need a flat surface to maintain proper spine alignment, the firmer Helix models will be more comfortable. For those over 130lbs who wish to get a good night’s sleep, the Plus and Dawn may be a better choice. Thanks to their support and hardiness, the central part of the mattress is strong enough not to cause excessive weight loss. A cushion that is supportive and comfortable will offer the support stomach sleepers of this weight range need.

Because it is medium-firm, the Midnight is suitable for stomach sleepers less than 130 pounds. For heavier people, however, the Midnight will sink too deep. The Twilight might be suitable for stomach sleepers with lighter weights, particularly those who weigh between 130-230 pounds.
