Helix Moonlight and the Sunset The softest versions from the manufacturer are Helix Sunset and Helix Moonlight. Helix Midnight (and Helix Dusk) are two models that fall within the medium category. Helix Sunset Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn are the most popular models. Helix Plus and Helix Twilight are the best-selling models in the Helix line.

Helix is responsible for the Sunset. Helix considered side sleepers when designing the Sunset and Midnight, as well as the Twilight. Lunar Light Midnight, Dusk and Dawn are designed with stomach sleepers and backs in mind. The Plus is especially made for those who are bigger. Helix creates each mattress to fit specific weight categories and sleeping positions. However, it may be appreciated by some who like its feel.

With the exception of Plus, every model is available in both the Luxe and normal editions. This optional update extends the coil system to provide zonal support for spinal alignment. This allows the hips to be supported and the shoulders to sink further. The top of the cushion is quilted in the Luxe edition to give it a plusher feel. The Tencel cover promotes ventilation into the mattress while assisting in the removal of moisture. Upgrades come with an additional 15-year warranty in addition the usual 10-year guarantee.

The standard versions of the Dawn, Dusk, Midnight, Moonlight, Sunset, and Twilight are 12 inches thick, while the luxurious versions are 14 inches thick. Plus measures 13 inches. Since Helix mattresses may be high-profile, you might need to have large pockets.

Helix Mattress Performance

Motion Isolation

helix-dawn-sideThe majority of Helix mattresses are excellent at preventing movement. Foam layers absorb a lot of movement. The comfort layers’ latex like polyfoam are springier that ordinary memory foam. Because of the springiness emanating from the coil’s centre, you may be able detect your partner’s movements throughout a night.

Dusk, Sunset have the highest motion absorption of any Helix model due to their memory foam layers.

Two comfort layers are included in the Plus, which keep most coil motions from reaching its springy coil core.

This may result in less vibration traveling over the mattress’ surface.

This reduces the amount of noise that is transmitted across the mattress. You might be able to sleep more easily if your partner is not around.

Pressure Relief

Helix mattresses are known for their ability to reduce pressure. This is due in part to the pockets of coils and memory foam. The foam can be used to relax deeply and allow for self-cradling. This may help reduce pressure points such pressure points as the hips and shoulders. Side sleepers and those under 130 lbs. are more demanding. Softer mattresses will be more accommodating to their needs. Firmer mattresses would be a better choice for those who sleep on the stomach or back, or who are more than 230lbs.

The best relief from pressure is found in the moonlight and dusk. The Plus is specifically designed for those who are heavier and can help alleviate pressure points. Twilight’s stronger sensation will cause sleepers to be more resistant to pressure points, which can decrease the efficacy and effectiveness of these products.

Temperature Control

Helix hybrid mattresses are around average when it comes to cooling down.

Because memory foam mattresses often retain heat, they can make you feel warm while you sleep. To counter heat loss, the coils of these mattresses allow air to flow through to aid in cooling.

The Dawn’s firmness and lack of sinkage help it sleep cooler than the other types. Two cooling covers are included with the Plus to further aid with heat dissipation.

Edge Support

Every Helix model is equipped with an encasement, which is strengthened within its core. This reduces sinkage when someone lies on their back or sits on their bed edge. Each model, however, has a different degree of edge support. This is due in large part to its quality and stiffness.

Twilight and Dawn offer the best edge support, thanks to their solid design. Because to their sturdy build, they also provide superb edge support. Dusk or Midnight, plus provide adequate support for the edges.

Moonlight the Moonlight & Sunset are the most extravagant models. These mattresses will allow you to sink less or stay close to the edge. They provide the smallest amount of edge support than all Helix mattresses.

Ease of Movement

The model’s ability to move is the main distinguishing feature. The surface is slippery due to the sinking Moonlight as well as the soft Moonlight.

Twilight models and Dawn models feel more firm and pleasant. With the powerful pushback of the body, Dawn and Twilight models make it much easier to get out of bed.

The Line with a Plus bed has two layers of comfort. However, it’s a little more difficult to move than other hybrids.

Sex

Helix mattresses provide some spring and bounce thanks to their coil cores. Many couples find this a great option for sex. The amount of conforming or sinking that the foam layers provide can influence the sexual experience depending on how it is made.

The Helix Dawn’s smooth surfaces make it easy for couples to move around. Dusk, midnight, plus, and plus are the best times for sex. Moonlight and sunset, however, will make it more challenging. These models have soft, plush surfaces which may limit motion.

Off-Gassing

Helix models have the same amount of “new mattress smell” as all foam mattresses.

The smell is usually considered safe and disappears after a few days. Helix has many mattress options.

Helix hybrid mattresses have coil cores that allow for more air to flow across the entire bed. The result is that odors are less likely to persist than with an all foam mattress.

You could leave the mattress unventilated for a couple of hours if you find the scent to be bothersome.

Helix Sleeping Style and Body Weight

Side Sleepers

Helix-sunset-sideThe key to a good night’s sleep is finding the right mattress that provides the perfect balance of support and cushioning. To alleviate strain and align your spine, you need your hips and shoulders to sink into the mattress. Side sleepers are more comfortable with mattresses that feel “medium”, closer to the soft range.

Side bed sleepers less than 130lbs will enjoy the plush padding on the Moonlight and Dusk models. For those who want a cozier environment, the Moonlight is an excellent choice.

Side sleepers who are between 130 and 230 lbs should be able to use the Midnight/Dusk. Most people in this weight range will love the models’ combination for powerful contouring as well as support.

If you’re a side sleeper and weigh more than 230 pounds, the Plus or, to a lesser degree, the Twilight are your best options. The firmer feel of these models will prevent side sleepers who are heavier than 230 pounds from sinking too deeply into their beds. Helix Dynamic foam layer provides bounce and cushioning, while the Plus model is for larger persons. The foam comfort layers provide support and cushioning, as well as the relief of pressure on the hips, shoulders, and hips.

Back Sleepers

Side sleepers need less cushioning but still require support.

To avoid spinal misalignment and sinking, back sleeping requires some extra support. Your spine will be fairly even if your back is positioned on the bed.

This is why back sleepers often choose mattresses that are firmer than those preferred by side sleepers but not as stiff as those preferred by stomach sleepers.

The Midnight might be the best option for back-sleepers under 130 pounds depending on their needs. This mattress provides the perfect amount of support and cushioning for back sleepers.

The options are endless for people who weigh between 130 and 220 pounds. The Plus or Twilight might be a good choice for back sleepers who are in this weight range. Both provide enough plushness to cushion the spine and great support for the lower back. Dusk and Dawn both offer excellent support and are firm but not too firm.

The Plus, Twilight and Dawn are great choices for those who sleep on their backs and weigh more than 230 pounds. These pillows provide excellent support and help to keep hips from sinking into your mattress.

Stomach Sleepers

Because the majority of an individual’s weight is in their torsos, Stomach sleepers put greater strain on their mattresses and have a propensity to sink deeper than other positions. If they fall too far, it can cause their spines to shift out of alignment. This could lead to aches and pains later. Stomach sleepers require a mattress that is firmer and more supportive. It should also have enough push-back to support their backs.

The firmer Helix versions will be most comfortable for stomach sleepers, who require a level surface to preserve proper spinal alignment and alignment. The Plus and Dawn are good options for those who weigh over 130 pounds and want to sleep well. Thanks to their support and hardiness, the central part of the mattress is strong enough not to cause excessive weight loss. A cushion that is supportive and comfortable will offer the support stomach sleepers of this weight range need.

Because the Midnight feels medium-firm it’s suitable for stomach sleepers below 130 pounds. For heavier people, however, the Midnight will sink too deep. The Twilight may also work well for stomach sleepers of lighter weight, especially those weighing between 130 and 230lbs.
