Helix produces the Sunset. Helix considers side sleepers when designing the Sunsets, Midnights, and Twilight. Lunar Light The Midnight, Dusk, and Dawn have been designed with stomach and back sleepers in mind. The Plus is specially designed for people who are larger. Helix mattresses are designed with specific weight categories in mind. However, some people may like how it feels.

All models, except for the Plus edition, come in both the Luxe as well as the normal editions. This optional update extends the coil system to provide zonal support for spinal alignment. This allows the hips to be supported and the shoulders to sink further. The Luxe edition of the quilt is used on the top to give the cushion a plush feel. The Tencel cover promotes ventilation into the mattress while assisting in the removal of moisture. The upgrade comes with a 15-year warranty, in addition to the standard 10-year guarantee.

The Dawn, Dusk Midnight, Midnight Moonlight, Sunset and Twilight standard versions are 12 inches thick. While the luxurious versions measure 14 inches. The Plus is 13 inches thick in addition. Since Helix mattresses may be high-profile, you might need to have large pockets.

Helix Mattress Performance

Motion Isolation

helix-dawn-sideHelix mattresses are very good at controlling movement. A lot of movement is often absorbed by foam layers. However, the comfort layers’ latex-like, polyfoam is more springy than regular memory foam. You may be able to sense your partner’s movements throughout the night because to the springiness that emanates from the coil’s center.

The memory foam layers and soft feel of the Helix models make the Dusk and Sunset absorb the most motion than any other models.

The Plus features two comfort layers, which stop most coil motions contacting the mattress’ springy core.

As a result, less vibration may travel over the surface of the mattress.

As a consequence, noise transmission is decreased over the mattress. The amount of motion transmission during the moonlight, dawn and midnight is very low, which may lessen your ability to go to sleep.

Pressure Relief

Helix mattresses are known for their ability to reduce pressure. This is due in part to the pockets of coils and memory foam. The foam can be used to relax deeply and allow for self-cradling. This may help reduce pressure points such pressure points as the hips and shoulders. Side sleepers and anyone less than 130 lbs. have special needs. are better met by the softer mattresses. For those who like to sleep on their stomach or back or who weigh more than 230 pounds, however, firmer mattresses are recommended.

The moonlight, sunset, sunrise, and night are the best times to relieve pressure. This is partly due to the plusher surfaces. The Plus is designed for heavier people and may help to alleviate pressure points. Twilight and Dawn have a harder sensation, which will increase resistance to pressure points. This reduces the efficacy these products in this area.

Temperature Control

Helix mattresses perform about average in hybrids for cooling down when it comes sleeping.

Because memory foam mattresses often retain heat, they can make you feel warm while you sleep. These mattresses have coils that allow air to circulate through them to counter heat loss.

The Dawn’s firmness, and lack of sinkage, makes it more comfortable than other types. The Plus includes two cooling covers to help with heat dissipation.

Edge Support

Each Helix model has an encasement that is strengthened within the coil’s core. Because of this, sinkage is less when a person lies down or sits on the edge. However, owing in large part to the quality of the construction and stiffness, each model has a varying level of edge support.

Twilight and Dawn offer the best edge support, thanks to their solid design. They provide excellent edge support due to their strong build. Dusk, Midnight and Plus also provide enough support for the edges.

Moonlight the Moonlight & Sunset are the most extravagant models. These mattresses will allow you to sink less or stay close to the edge. They have the lowest edge support of all Helix mattress models.

Ease of Movement

The model’s overall quality is what separates the ease of movement from any other class. It is difficult to walk on the surface because to the deep cradling and sink provided by the softer Moonlight and the setting sun.

Twilight and Dawn models on the other side have a firmer, pleasanter sensation. Due to the strong pushback of the Dawn or Twilight models against the body, it is much easier for you to move about and get out.

Although the Line with the Plus’s two-layer comfort system makes it a bit more difficult to move around on than other hybrids due to its firmness, the bed still offers enough movement.

Sex

Helix mattresses are known for their coil cores which provide some spring and bounce. Many couples enjoy Helix mattress sex. The degree of conforming and sinking offered by the foam layers will vary depending on how they are designed. This can either enhance or diminish the sexual experience.

The Helix Dawn’s smooth surfaces and Twilight make it easier to move around, making them ideal for couples. Also, while dusk, night, and plus are great times to have sex, moonlight and sunset can make it more difficult. These models have soft, plush surfaces which may limit motion.

Off-Gassing

Helix models have the same amount of “new mattress smell” as all foam mattresses.

This smell is often thought to be safe and goes away after a few days. Helix offers a variety of mattress options.

Helix mattresses are hybrids. Their coil cores allow more air to circulate across the bed because they have multiple coils. Therefore, the odors of Helix mattresses will dissipate more quickly than with all-foam mattresses.

You can leave the mattress open for a few hours if the smell bothers you.

Helix Sleeping Style and Body Weight

Side Sleepers

Helix-sunset-sideA mattress that has the right amount of support and cushions is key to good sleep. To align the spine and alleviate strain, the hips should not be pressed against the mattress. Mattresses with a “medium” feel, closer to the soft end of the range, are often preferred by side sleepers.

Side bed sleepers weighing less than 130 lbs will appreciate the soft padding in the Moonlight or Dusk models. The Moonlight is the best option for those who desire a cozier setting.

Side sleepers between 130 and 220 pounds can use the Midnight or Dusk, which are firm and comfortable. Models’ combination of support and contouring will appeal to most sleepers who are in this weight range.

The Plus and, in a lesser amount, the Twilight are the best options for side sleepers who weigh more than 220 pounds. These models’ firmer feel will keep folks who fall into this type of side sleepers from sinking too deep into their beds. Helix Dynamic foam layer provides bounce and cushioning, while the Plus model is for larger persons. The foam comfort layers provide support and cushioning, as well as the relief of pressure on the hips, shoulders, and hips.

Back Sleepers

Back sleepers likewise want a mix of support and contouring, but they want less cushioning than side sleepers do.

Back sleeping is more difficult than usual. You need extra support in the lumbar and back regions to prevent your spine from sinking. Your spine will be fairly even if your back is positioned on the bed.

This is why back sleepers may choose mattresses that feel firmer than the side sleepers’, but not as stiff and comfortable as stomach sleepers.

The Midnight may be the right choice for backs that weigh less than 130lbs. It depends on your needs. It provides the right amount of support and cushioning that this sleeping position requires.

A wide variety of options are available for those who weigh between 130 – 230 lbs. Back sleepers that fall into this weight range might do well in the Twilight or the Plus. They both provide sufficient plushness to support the spine and the lower back. Dusk and Dawn both offer excellent support and are firm but not too firm.

The Plus, Twilight, or Dawn are great options for people who are heavier than 230 lbs and sleep on their stomachs. These mattresses provide support for all weight categories to prevent hips sinking into the mattress.

Stomach Sleepers

Because the majority of an individual’s weight is in their torsos, Stomach sleepers put greater strain on their mattresses and have a propensity to sink deeper than other positions. If they sink too far, they run the risk of pushing their spines out their normal alignment. This can lead to later aches, and pains. Ultimately, stomach sleepers need a mattress that is firmer, more supportive, and has enough push-back to keep their backs in alignment.

The firmer Helix versions will be most comfortable for stomach sleepers, who require a level surface to preserve proper spinal alignment and alignment. If you are over 130 pounds, the Plus or Dawn might be the best option for you. The central region of the mattress is sturdy enough to reduce the possibility of excessive weight loss thanks to their hardness and support. Comfortable cushions will provide the support that stomach-sleepers in this weight range require.

Because the Midnight feels medium-firm it’s suitable for stomach sleepers below 130 pounds. Heavy people may sink too much. For stomach sleepers who are lighter in weight, especially those who weigh between 130 and 230 pounds, the Twilight may also be appropriate.
