Helix Plush Mattress Topper Review

Overview Helix Plush Mattress Topper Review

Helix, a mattress manufacturer selling direct to consumers, is known for its sleep studies. This quiz suggests the ideal mattress based on a person’s weight, preferred sleeping position, and sleeping style. The Helix series has seven different variants that will suit various sleeping preferences. Helix Plush Mattress Topper Review

Helix Sunset & Helix Moonlight: These are the softest models from the manufacturer. Helix Midnight (and Helix Dusk) are two models that fall within the medium category. Helix Sunset The most often used models are Helix Twilight, Helix Dawn, and Helix Plus. The line’s firmest models are Helix Plus.

The Sunset is produced by Helix. Helix has side sleepers in mind while designing the Sunset, the Midnight, and the Twilight. Lunar Light Midnight, Dusk and Dawn are designed with stomach sleepers and backs in mind. The Plus was designed specifically for those with larger bodies. While Helix designs each mattress with certain weight categories and sleep positions in mind, some people may also like the way it feels.

Every model, except the Plus comes in both the Luxe or normal editions. Optional, the update expands the coil system in order to provide zonal Lumbar Support to improve spinal alignment. The hips are supported while the shoulders drop farther. The Luxe edition of the quilt is used on the top to give the cushion a plush feel. Tencel covers encourage ventilation and aid in moisture removal. A 15-year warranty is included with the upgrade in addition to the normal 10-year guarantee.

The Dawn, Dusk Midnight, Midnight Moonlight, Sunset and Twilight standard versions are 12 inches thick. While the luxurious versions measure 14 inches. The Plus is 13 inches thick in addition. Because Helix mattresses can be considered high-profile, it may require substantial pockets.

We will review the specifications, construction, and customer reviews for each Helix mattress. We’ll also be listing some of the potential benefits to help determine which model might work best for your needs.

Helix Mattress Performance

Motion Isolation

helix-dawn-sideHelix mattresses have a great track record of preventing movement. The foam layers absorb most movement. However, comfort layers’ latex-like memory foam is much springier than regular memory foam. You may be able to sense your partner’s movements throughout the night because to the springiness that emanates from the coil’s center.

Dusk/Sunset absorb the most motion due to their memory foam layers, which are softer than the other Helix models.

The Plus also has two comfort layers that prevent most coil movements from reaching the springy core of the mattress.

As a result, less vibration may travel over the surface of the mattress.

This reduces the amount of noise that is transmitted across the mattress. The amount of motion transmission during the moonlight, dawn and midnight is very low, which may lessen your ability to go to sleep.

Pressure Relief

Helix mattresses are known for their ability to reduce pressure. This is due in part to the pockets of coils and memory foam. Deep relaxation and self-cradling are possible with the foam, which can help relieve pressure on pressure points such as the hips or shoulders. Side sleepers, or those who weigh less than 130 lbs., have different needs. Softer mattresses will be more accommodating to their needs. Firmer mattresses would be a better choice for those who sleep on the stomach or back, or who are more than 230lbs.

The best relief from pressure is found in the moonlight and dusk. The Plus is specifically designed for those who are heavier and can help alleviate pressure points. Twilight and Dawn have a harder sensation, which will increase resistance to pressure points. This reduces the efficacy these products in this area.

Temperature Control

Helix mattresses perform well for hybrids when it comes down to sleeping cool.

Because memory foam mattresses often retain heat, they can make you feel warm while you sleep. However, these mattresses’ coils allow for air flow to help counter heat loss.

The Dawn’s firmness, and lack of sinkage, makes it more comfortable than other types. To further reduce heat loss, the Plus comes with two cooling covers.

Edge Support

Each Helix model features an encasement that’s strengthened in the coil’s core. It reduces sinkage when people sit or lay on the edges of their beds. Each model offers a different level of edge support, due to its quality and stiffness.

Twilight and Dawn offer the best edge support, thanks to their solid design. Because to their sturdy build, they also provide superb edge support. Dusk or Midnight, plus provide adequate support for the edges.

Moonlight the Moonlight or Sunset are the most expensive models. This means that you will sink less when you sleep, and you can sit closer to the edge. They have the lowest edge support of all Helix mattress models.

Ease of Movement

The model’s ability to move is the main distinguishing feature. The surface is slippery due to the sinking Moonlight as well as the soft Moonlight.

Twilight and Dawn models on the other side have a firmer, pleasanter sensation. It’s much easier to get up and move about with the Dawn/Twilight models’ strong pushback against your body.

Although the Line with the Plus’s two-layer comfort system makes it a bit more difficult to move around on than other hybrids due to its firmness, the bed still offers enough movement.

Sex

Helix mattresses have coil cores that provide spring and bounce, which couples often enjoy when having sex. Depending on the design of the mattress, the degree of conforming and sinking provided by the foam layers may enhance or detract from the sexual experience.

The Helix Dawn and Twilight have smooth surfaces that make moving around easier, making them excellent choices for couples. Additionally, dusk, midnight, and plus are ideal times for sex, but moonlight and sunset will probably make things more difficult. These models have soft, plush surfaces which may limit motion.

Off-Gassing

Helix models start with the same standard amount of “new-mattress scent” that all foam mattresses have.

This smell is often thought to be safe and goes away after a few days. Helix offers many different mattress options.

Helix mattresses are hybrids. Their coil cores allow more air to circulate across the bed because they have multiple coils. The result is that odors are less likely to persist than with an all foam mattress.

If you are bothered by the smell, you can choose to expose the mattress in a well-ventilated area for a few more hours.

Helix Sleeping Style and Body Weight

Side Sleepers

Helix-sunset-sideThe key to a good night’s sleep is finding the right mattress that provides the perfect balance of support and cushioning. The mattress should allow the shoulders and hips to sink into it. This will help align the spine and relieve strain. Side sleepers often prefer mattresses that have a “medium” feel. This is closer to the soft side of the range.

Side bed sleepers less than 130lbs will enjoy the plush padding on the Moonlight and Dusk models. For those who want a cozier environment, the Moonlight is an excellent choice.

Side sleepers between 130 and 220 pounds can use the Midnight or Dusk, which are firm and comfortable. Most people in this weight range will love the models’ combination for powerful contouring as well as support.

If you’re a side sleeper and weigh more than 230 pounds, the Plus or, to a lesser degree, the Twilight are your best options. People who are side sleepers will not sink too deeply into these models due to their firmer feel. Helix Dynamic Foam gives the Plus cushioning and bounce. And, because the Plus is built for larger individuals, the foam comfort layers provide the required cradling that relieves pressure from the shoulders and hips.

Back Sleepers

Back sleepers likewise want a mix of support and contouring, but they want less cushioning than side sleepers do.

For back sleep to be comfortable, you will need to provide support and firmness in the lumbar region. This is important to avoid sinking too deep and creating spinal misalignment. Your spine will be fairly even if your back is positioned on the bed.

This is why back sleepers may choose mattresses that feel firmer than the side sleepers’, but not as stiff and comfortable as stomach sleepers.

The Midnight is a good option for back sleepers who weigh less than 130 pounds. It provides the right amount of support and cushioning that this sleeping position requires.

There are many options for those who weigh between 130-230 pounds and between 130-230 pounds. Back sleepers with this weight might find the Plus or Twilight suitable. They both provide sufficient plushness to support the spine and the lower back. Due to their reliable support and reasonable firmness, they are both Dusk and Dawn are also excellent.

The Plus, Twilight and Dawn are great choices for those who sleep on their backs and weigh more than 230 pounds. They provide excellent support to the weight range and prevent your hips from sinking in the mattress.

Stomach Sleepers

Because the majority of an individual’s weight is in their torsos, Stomach sleepers place greater stress on their mattresses and are more likely to sink further than in other positions. They run the danger of pushing their spines out of their normal alignment and forming a U shape if they drop too far. It can cause later aches and discomforts. Stomach sleepers will need a mattress with more support, firmness, and enough push-back so that their backs align.

Helix models with a firmer surface will be the most comfortable for stomach sleepers. This is because they require a level surface for proper spinal alignment. For those over 130lbs who wish to get a good night’s sleep, the Plus and Dawn may be a better choice. Because of their support and hardness, the central region of the mattress can reduce the risk of weight loss. Comfortable cushions will provide the support that stomach-sleepers in this weight range require.

Because the Midnight feels medium-firm it’s suitable for stomach sleepers below 130 pounds. However, heavier people will sink too far. For stomach sleepers who are lighter in weight, especially those who weigh between 130 and 230 pounds, the Twilight may also be appropriate.
