Helix Mattress Performance

Motion Isolation

helix-dawn-sideHelix mattresses have a great track record of preventing movement. Many movements are absorbed by the foam layers. However, the comfort layers’ latex-like, polyfoam is more springy than regular memory foam. You may be able to sense your partner’s movements throughout the night because to the springiness that emanates from the coil’s center.

The memory foam layers and soft feel of the Helix models make the Dusk and Sunset absorb the most motion than any other models.

Two comfort layers make up the Plus. They prevent most coil motions reaching the core of the springy coils.

You may experience less vibration on the mattress’ surface.

As a result, the noise transmitted over the mattress is less. It is possible to rest better if you sleep at night, in the morning, or at night.

Pressure Relief

Helix mattresses reduce pressure. This is partly due to the Helix mattress’ layers of memory foam, pocketed coils, and polyfoam. Deep relaxation and self-cradling are possible with the foam, which can help relieve pressure on pressure points such as the hips or shoulders. The demands of side sleepers or anyone under 130 lbs. are better met by the softer mattresses. Firmer mattresses would be a better choice for those who sleep on the stomach or back, or who are more than 230lbs.

The moonlight, sunset, sunrise, and night are the best times to relieve pressure. This is partly due to the plusher surfaces. The Plus is specifically designed for those who are heavier and can help alleviate pressure points. Dawn and Twilight’s harder sensation will result in higher resistance to pressure points on sleepers, which lessens the efficacy of these products in this region.

Temperature Control

Helix mattresses perform about average in hybrids for cooling down when it comes sleeping.

Memory foam mattresses are known for heating you while you sleep. This is because it holds heat throughout the night. But these mattresses’ coils allow air to flow through them to assist counteract heat loss.

The Dawn’s firmness and lack of sinkage help it sleep cooler than the other types. Two cooling covers are included with the Plus to further aid with heat dissipation.

Edge Support

Each Helix model has an encasement that is strengthened within the coil’s core. It reduces sinkage when people sit or lay on the edges of their beds. However, owing in large part to the quality of the construction and stiffness, each model has a varying level of edge support.

The Dawn and Twilight, for example, provide excellent edge support due to their strong design. These strong, sturdy products also provide great edge support. Additionally, Dusk, Midnight, and Plus provide sufficient support for the edges.

The most luxurious models are Moonlight the Moonlight and Sunset, so you’ll sink less while you sleep or sit close to the edge. They provide the least amount of edge support of all Helix mattresses.

Ease of Movement

The model’s quality primarily sets the ease of movement apart as a separate class. It is hard to walk on the ground due to the sinking Moonlight, which is softer than the Sun.

Twilight models and Dawn models feel more firm and pleasant. With the powerful pushback of the body, Dawn and Twilight models make it much easier to get out of bed.

Although the Line with the Plus’s two-layer comfort system makes it a bit more difficult to move around on than other hybrids due to its firmness, the bed still offers enough movement.

Sex

Helix mattresses provide some spring and bounce thanks to their coil cores. Many couples find this a great option for sex. The level of conforming or sinking of the foam layers can affect how sexual experiences are enhanced or diminished depending on the mattress design.

Because of their smooth surfaces, the Helix Dawn’s and Twilight’s make it easy to move about. This makes them great for couples. Dusk, midnight, plus, and plus are the best times for sex. Moonlight and sunset, however, will make it more challenging. These models have plush, soft surfaces that may restrict motion.

Off-Gassing

Helix models are initially equipped with the standard “new mattress fragrance” which is common for all foam mattresses.

This smell is often thought to be safe and goes away after a few days. Helix offers many different mattress options.

Helix mattresses are hybrids. Their coil cores allow more air to circulate across the bed because they have multiple coils. The result is that odors are less likely to persist than with an all foam mattress.

You can leave the mattress open for a few hours if the smell bothers you.

Helix Sleeping Style and Body Weight

Side Sleepers

Helix-sunset-sideYou can sleep comfortably on your side if you find the right combination of support and cushioning in a mattress. To alleviate strain and align your spine, you need your hips and shoulders to sink into the mattress. Mattresses with a “medium” feel, closer to the soft end of the range, are often preferred by side sleepers.

Side sleepers with a weight below 130 pounds will appreciate the plush padding offered by the Moonlight, Dusk, and Moonlight models. The Moonlight is for those who enjoy a more comfortable environment.

The Midnight and Dusk models are best for side sleepers weighing between 130-230 pounds. Most people in this weight range will love the models’ combination for powerful contouring as well as support.

If you’re a side sleeper and weigh more than 230 pounds, the Plus or, to a lesser degree, the Twilight are your best options. The firmer feel of these models will prevent side sleepers who are heavier than 230 pounds from sinking too deeply into their beds. Helix Dynamic Foam gives the Plus cushioning and bounce. And, because the Plus is built for larger individuals, the foam comfort layers provide the required cradling that relieves pressure from the shoulders and hips.

Back Sleepers

Side sleepers need less cushioning but still require support.

Back sleeping is more difficult than usual. You need extra support in the lumbar and back regions to prevent your spine from sinking. Your spine will be fairly even if your back is positioned on the bed.

This is why side sleepers prefer mattresses that are firmer, but not as rigid as stomach sleepers.

The Midnight is a good option for back sleepers who weigh less than 130 pounds. This mattress provides the perfect amount of support and cushioning for back sleepers.

People who weigh between 130 to 230 pounds have many options. Back sleepers that fall into this weight range might do well in the Twilight or the Plus. Both offer enough support to the lower back and spine with sufficient plushness. Due to their reliable support and reasonable firmness, they are both Dusk and Dawn are also excellent.

The Plus, Twilight and Dawn are great choices for those who sleep on their backs and weigh more than 230 pounds. These pillows provide excellent support and help to keep hips from sinking into your mattress.

Stomach Sleepers

Since torsos normally bear the majority of a person’s weight. Stomach sleepers are more likely to put stress on their mattresses, and sink deeper than others. If they are too far down, their spines could become twisted and form a U-shaped shape. This could lead to aches and pains later. Stomach sleepers will need a mattress with more support, firmness, and enough push-back so that their backs align.

Helix models with a firmer surface will be the most comfortable for stomach sleepers. This is because they require a level surface for proper spinal alignment. If you are over 130 pounds, the Plus or Dawn might be the best option for you. Thanks to their support and hardiness, the central part of the mattress is strong enough not to cause excessive weight loss. Therefore, a cushion that is comfortable will provide the support that stomach sleepers in this weight range require.

Because it feels medium firm, the Midnight is best for stomach sleepers weighing less than 130lbs. Heavy people may sink too much. The Twilight may be suitable for stomach-sleepers who are lighter than 130 to 230 lbs, especially if they weigh between 130 and 220 lb.
