Helix Mattress Performance

Motion Isolation

helix-dawn-sideThe majority of Helix mattresses are excellent at preventing movement. Many movements are absorbed by the foam layers. The comfort layers’ latex-like polyfoam, however, is springier than ordinary memory foam. Due to the springiness emanating form the coil’s core, it is possible to sense your partner moving throughout the night.

The memory foam layers and soft feel of the Helix models make the Dusk and Sunset absorb the most motion than any other models.

Two comfort layers are included in the Plus, which keep most coil motions from reaching its springy coil core.

This may result in less vibration traveling over the mattress’ surface.

The amount of noise transferred to the mattress is therefore reduced. It is possible to rest better if you sleep at night, in the morning, or at night.

Pressure Relief

Helix mattresses reduce pressure. This is partly due to the Helix mattress’ layers of memory foam, pocketed coils, and polyfoam. The foam enables deep relaxation and self-cradling, which may help take some of the pressure off of pressure points like the hips and shoulders. The demands of side sleepers or anyone under 130 lbs. Softer mattresses are more suitable for side sleepers and those who weigh less than 130 lbs. Firmer mattresses may be recommended for those who want to lie on their stomachs or backs and who are heavier than 230 lbs.

The finest pressure relief is provided by the moonlight, dusk, sunset, and midnight, in part because of the plusher surfaces. The Plus is designed for heavier people and may help to alleviate pressure points. Twilight and Dawn will have a stronger sensation which will make it more difficult for sleepers to feel pressure points. This decreases the effectiveness of these products.

Temperature Control

When it comes to sleeping cool, Helix mattresses perform around average for hybrids.

The memory foam mattress has a reputation for making you feel heated while you sleep since it often captures and holds onto heat all night. But these mattresses’ coils allow air to flow through them to assist counteract heat loss.

The Dawn’s firmness as well as its lack of sinkage makes it feel cooler than other types. To further reduce heat loss, the Plus comes with two cooling covers.

Edge Support

Each Helix model includes an encasement made from the coil’s inner core. It reduces sinkage when people sit or lay on the edges of their beds. Each model is different in terms of how supportive it provides edge support. This is due to the quality of its construction and stiffness.

For instance, due to their sturdy design, the Dawn and Twilight provide the best edge support. Due to their solid construction, they provide outstanding edge support. Dusk, Midnight and Plus also provide enough support for the edges.

Moonlight the Moonlight and Sunset are the most luxurious models. They offer more support for your spine, while also allowing you to sleep closer to the edge. They have the lowest edge support of all Helix mattress models.

Ease of Movement

The model’s overall quality is what separates the ease of movement from any other class. The surface is slippery due to the sinking Moonlight as well as the soft Moonlight.

Twilight and Dawn models however, feel firmer and more comfortable. With the powerful pushback of the body, Dawn and Twilight models make it much easier to get out of bed.

Although the Line with the Plus’s two-layer comfort system makes it a bit more difficult to move around on than other hybrids due to its firmness, the bed still offers enough movement.

Sex

Helix mattresses are known for their coil cores which provide some spring and bounce. Many couples enjoy Helix mattress sex. The level of conforming or sinking of the foam layers can affect how sexual experiences are enhanced or diminished depending on the mattress design.

The Helix Dawn’s smooth surfaces make it easy for couples to move around. In terms of sex, the ideal times are dusk to midnight and plus. However, moonlight or sunsets will be more difficult. These models have plush, soft surface that could restrict motion.

Off-Gassing

Helix models start with the same standard amount of “new-mattress scent” that all foam mattresses have.

This smell is generally considered to be harmless and will disappear after a few weeks. Helix offers a variety of mattress options.

Helix mattresses that are hybrids have more air circulation because of their coil cores. The result is that odors are less likely to persist than with an all foam mattress.

If the smell is bothersome, you might leave the mattress out in a well-ventilated place for a few days.

Helix Sleeping Style and Body Weight

Side Sleepers

Helix-sunset-sideTo sleep well on your side, you need a mattress that offers the right balance of support and cushioning. The mattress should allow the shoulders and hips to sink into it. This will help align the spine and relieve strain. Side sleepers will prefer mattresses with a more “medium” feel. They are closer to softening the range.

Side bed sleepers weighing less than 130 lbs will appreciate the soft padding in the Moonlight or Dusk models. The Moonlight is for those who enjoy a more comfortable environment.

Side sleepers who are between 130 and 230 lbs should be able to use the Midnight/Dusk. Most people in this weight range will love the models’ combination for powerful contouring as well as support.

If you are a side-sleeper who is more than 230 lbs, the Plus and, to some extent, the Twilight will be your best choices. These models’ firmer feel will keep folks who fall into this type of side sleepers from sinking too deep into their beds. Helix Dynamic foam layer provides bounce and cushioning, while the Plus model is for larger persons. The foam comfort layers provide support and cushioning, as well as the relief of pressure on the hips, shoulders, and hips.

Back Sleepers

Back sleepers require a mixture of support, contouring, and cushioning. Side sleepers prefer less cushioning.

Back sleeping typically requires a bit extra support and hardness, especially in the lumbar region to prevent sinking too deeply and causing spinal misalignment. You can ensure that your spine is fairly straight by placing your back on the mattress.

This is why back sleepers may choose mattresses that feel firmer than the side sleepers’, but not as stiff and comfortable as stomach sleepers.

The Midnight could be the best choice for back sleepers less than 130 lbs, depending on their requirements. This mattress provides the perfect amount of support and cushioning for back sleepers.

Those who weigh between 130 and 230 pounds have a wide range of options. Back sleepers who fall within this weight range may be able to use the Plus or Twilight. Both offer enough cushioning to cushion the spine, and support for the lower back. Dusk and Dawn are equally excellent for their support and firmness.

For those who weigh more over 230 pounds who sleep on their backs, the Plus, Twilight, and Dawn are great options. These pillows provide excellent support and help to keep hips from sinking into your mattress.

Stomach Sleepers

Because torsos typically bear the bulk of a person’s weight, Stomach sleepers place greater stress on their mattresses and are more likely to sink further than in other positions. If they sink too far, they run the risk of pushing their spines out their normal alignment. It can cause later aches and discomforts. Stomach sleepers require a mattress that is firmer and more supportive. It should also have enough push-back to support their backs.

Helix versions that are firmer will be more comfortable for stomach-sleepers, who require a level surface in order to maintain their spinal alignment. The Plus and Dawn are good options for those who weigh over 130 pounds and want to sleep well. Because of their support and hardness, the central region of the mattress can reduce the risk of weight loss. So a cushion that’s comfortable will give stomach sleepers in this range the support they need.

Because it feels medium firm, the Midnight is best for stomach sleepers weighing less than 130lbs. For heavier people, however, the Midnight will sink too deep. The Twilight may be suitable for stomach-sleepers who are lighter than 130 to 230 lbs, especially if they weigh between 130 and 220 lb.
