Overview Returning Helix Mattress

Helix, a direct-to-consumer mattress company, is well-known for its sleep studies. This quiz suggests the ideal mattress based on a person’s weight, preferred sleeping position, and sleeping style. There are seven options in the Helix series that can be used to meet different preferences. Returning Helix Mattress

Helix Sunset and Helix Moonlight are the softest versions available from the manufacturer. Helix Midnight and Helix Dusk are two examples of medium models. Helix Sunset Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn are the most popular models. Helix Plus and Helix Twilight are the best-selling models in the Helix line.

Helix is responsible for the Sunset. Helix kept side sleepers in mind when creating the Sunset, Midnight and Twilight. Lunar Light Midnight and Dawn, as well as Dusk & Dawn, were designed with stomach and back sleeping in mind. The Plus was designed specifically for those with larger bodies. Helix mattresses are designed with specific weight categories in mind. However, some people may like how it feels.

Except for the Plus, all models are available in the normal and luxe editions. Optional, the update expands the coil system in order to provide zonal Lumbar Support to improve spinal alignment. The shoulders can drop further while the hips are supported. The top of the cushion is quilted in the Luxe edition to give it a plusher feel. Tencel covers allow for ventilation to the mattress and help remove moisture. Upgrades come with an additional 15-year warranty in addition the usual 10-year guarantee.

The Dawn, Dusk Midnight, Midnight Moonlight, Sunset and Twilight standard versions are 12 inches thick. While the luxurious versions measure 14 inches. The Plus is 13 inches thick in addition. Helix mattresses might require large pockets, as they could be viewed as high-profile.

Helix Mattress Performance

Motion Isolation

helix-dawn-sideThe majority of Helix mattresses are excellent at preventing movement. Foam layers can absorb much of the movement. The latex-like polyfoam of comfort layers is, however, springier than ordinary memory. Due to the springiness emanating form the coil’s core, it is possible to sense your partner moving throughout the night.

Dusk & Sunset absorb the most movement of all Helix models due to their memory foam layers.

The Plus has two comfort layers as well, which prevent the majority of coil motions from reaching the springy coil core of the mattress.

Therefore, vibrations may be less likely to travel across the mattress’s surface.

This reduces the amount of noise that is transmitted across the mattress. Motion transmission is modest during moonlight, dawn, and midnight, which might lessen the impact of your partner’s movements on your ability to sleep.

Pressure Relief

One of the benefits of Helix mattresses is pressure reduction, which is partly attributable to the layers of memory foam, polyfoam, and pocketed coils. The foam is able to induce deep relaxation and self cradling, which can reduce pressure points like the hips. Side sleepers, or those who weigh less than 130 lbs., have different needs. Softer mattresses will be more accommodating to their needs. Firmer mattresses are recommended for people who sleep on their stomachs, back, or who weigh more that 230 pounds.

Moonlight, dusk and sunset provide the best pressure relief, partly because they have plusher surfaces. The Plus is designed for heavier people and may help to alleviate pressure points. Due to Twilight and Dawn’s more intense sensations, sleepers will be less likely to experience pressure points. This can reduce the effectiveness of these products.

Temperature Control

Helix hybrid mattresses are around average when it comes to cooling down.

Because memory foam mattresses often retain heat, they can make you feel warm while you sleep. The coils in these mattresses allow for air to flow through them, which helps to reduce heat loss.

The Dawn’s firmness as well as its lack of sinkage makes it feel cooler than other types. The Plus includes two cooling covers to help with heat dissipation.

Edge Support

Every Helix model comes with an encasement which is reinforced within the core of the coil. It reduces sinkage when people sit or lay on the edges of their beds. Every model has a different level support due to its structure and stiffness.

Twilight and Dawn provide the best edge support because of their sturdy design. They provide excellent edge support due to their strong build. Dusk, Midnight and Plus also provide enough support for the edges.

The most luxurious models are Moonlight the Moonlight and Sunset, so you’ll sink less while you sleep or sit close to the edge. They have the lowest edge support of all Helix mattress models.

Ease of Movement

The model’s quality primarily sets the ease of movement apart as a separate class. The deep sinking Moonlight and setting sun make it difficult to walk on this surface.

Twilight and Dawn models however, feel firmer and more comfortable. Due to the strong pushback of the Dawn or Twilight models against the body, it is much easier for you to move about and get out.

The two-layer comfort system of the Line with the Plus may make the bed a little harder to move about on than other hybrids, but the firmness still allows for a sufficient amount of movement.

Sex

Helix mattresses can provide spring and bounce due to their coil cores. This is something many couples love when having sex. The mattress’s design will determine how the foam layers affect the sexual experience.

The Helix Dawn’s smooth surfaces make it easy for couples to move around. In terms of sex, the ideal times are dusk to midnight and plus. However, moonlight or sunsets will be more difficult. These models have plush, soft surface that could restrict motion.

Off-Gassing

All Helix models initially have the standard amount of “new mattress scent,” which is present with all foam mattresses.

This smell is often considered to be normal and goes away within a few hours. Helix offers several mattress options.

Because Helix mattresses are hybrids, their coil cores provide more air to move across the whole bed. This means that the odors from Helix mattresses will dissipate faster than they would from an all-foam one.

You could leave the mattress unventilated for a couple of hours if you find the scent to be bothersome.

Helix Sleeping Style and Body Weight

Side Sleepers

Helix-sunset-sideYou can sleep comfortably on your side if you find the right combination of support and cushioning in a mattress. To relieve strain and align the spine, the hips and shoulders need to be free to sink into the mattress. Side sleepers will prefer mattresses with a more “medium” feel. They are closer to softening the range.

The Dusk and Moonlight models’ plush padding will be appreciated by side bed sleepers who weigh less than 130 pounds. The Moonlight is the best option for those who desire a cozier setting.

Side sleepers who are between 130 and 230 lbs should be able to use the Midnight/Dusk. These sleepers will appreciate the models’ combination of strong contouring and support.

If you’re a side sleeper and weigh more than 230 pounds, the Plus or, to a lesser degree, the Twilight are your best options. People who are side sleepers will not sink too deeply into these models due to their firmer feel. The Helix Dynamic Foam layer gives cushioning and bounce, and since the Plus is designed for bigger persons, the foam comfort layers provide the necessary cradling that relieves pressure on the shoulders and hips.

Back Sleepers

Back sleepers require a mixture of support, contouring, and cushioning. Side sleepers prefer less cushioning.

To prevent spinal misalignment, back sleeping usually requires a little more support and hardness, particularly in the lumbar area. Your spine will remain fairly level by how your back is placed on the bed.

This is why back sleepers choose mattresses that have a firmer feel than side sleepers and not as stiff as stomach sleepers.

The Midnight may be the best option for back sleepers under 130 pounds, depending on their needs. This mattress provides the perfect amount of support and cushioning for back sleepers.

A wide variety of options are available for those who weigh between 130 – 230 lbs. These people might like the Plus or Twilight for their back. Both offer enough support to the lower back and spine with sufficient plushness. Due to their reliable support and reasonable firmness, they are both Dusk and Dawn are also excellent.

The Plus, Twilight or Dawn are great options if you weigh more than 220 pounds and prefer to sleep on your back. They offer great support for weight ranges to prevent hips and backs from sinking under the mattress.

Stomach Sleepers

As the main weight bearing part of a person’s body, torsos are usually heavier. Stomach sleepers are more likely to put stress on their mattresses, and sink deeper than others. If they fall too far, they can push their spines out from their normal alignment. This can lead to later aches, and pains. These stomach sleepers should have a mattress that’s firmer, supportive, and provides enough support to maintain their spine alignment.

Helix versions that are firmer will be more comfortable for stomach-sleepers, who require a level surface in order to maintain their spinal alignment. If you are over 130 pounds, the Plus or Dawn might be the best option for you. Because of their support and hardness, the central region of the mattress can reduce the risk of weight loss. So a cushion that’s comfortable will give stomach sleepers in this range the support they need.

The Midnight is appropriate for stomach sleepers under 130 pounds since it feels medium-firm. Heavy people may sink too much. The Twilight may also work well for stomach sleepers of lighter weight, especially those weighing between 130 and 230lbs.
