Helix Sunset & Helix Moonlight: These are the softest models from the manufacturer. Helix Midnight or Helix Dusk would be two examples of the medium models. Helix Sunset Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn are the most popular models. Helix Plus is the firmest model in the Helix Plus line.

The Sunset is produced by Helix. Helix considered side sleepers when designing the Sunset and Midnight, as well as the Twilight. Lunar Light Midnight, Dusk and Dawn are designed with stomach sleepers and backs in mind. The Plus was designed specifically for those with larger bodies. While Helix designs each mattress with certain weight categories and sleep positions in mind, some people may also like the way it feels.

With the exception of Plus, every model is available in both the Luxe and normal editions. The update, which is optional, extends the coil system to provide zonal lumbar support to aid in more effective spinal alignment. The shoulders can drop further while the hips are supported. To give the cushion a more luxurious feel, the Luxe edition quilts the top. Tencel covers allow for ventilation to the mattress and help remove moisture. Upgrades come with an additional 15-year warranty in addition the usual 10-year guarantee.

The Dawn, Dusk Midnight, Midnight Moonlight, Sunset and Twilight standard versions are 12 inches thick. While the luxurious versions measure 14 inches. Plus measures 13 inches. Because Helix mattresses can be considered high-profile, it may require substantial pockets.

Helix Mattress Performance

Motion Isolation

helix-dawn-sideHelix mattresses are great at keeping you from moving. Foam layers absorb a lot of movement. However, comfort layers’ latex-like memory foam is much springier than regular memory foam. Due to the coil’s springiness, you might be able to see your partner’s movements throughout their night.

Dusk & Sunset absorb the most movement of all Helix models due to their memory foam layers.

The Plus also has two comfort layers that prevent most coil movements from reaching the springy core of the mattress.

As a result, less vibration may travel over the surface of the mattress.

This reduces the amount of noise that is transmitted across the mattress. Motion transmission is modest during moonlight, dawn, and midnight, which might lessen the impact of your partner’s movements on your ability to sleep.

Pressure Relief

Helix mattresses are known for their ability to reduce pressure. This is due in part to the pockets of coils and memory foam. The foam enables deep relaxation and self-cradling, which may help take some of the pressure off of pressure points like the hips and shoulders. Side sleepers, or those who weigh less than 130 lbs., have different needs. are better met by the softer mattresses. Firmer mattresses would be a better choice for those who sleep on the stomach or back, or who are more than 230lbs.

The best relief from pressure is found in the moonlight and dusk. The Plus is designed for heavier people and may help to alleviate pressure points. Twilight and Dawn will have a stronger sensation which will make it more difficult for sleepers to feel pressure points. This decreases the effectiveness of these products.

Temperature Control

When it comes to sleeping cool, Helix mattresses perform around average for hybrids.

Because memory foam mattresses often retain heat, they can make you feel warm while you sleep. To counter heat loss, the coils of these mattresses allow air to flow through to aid in cooling.

The Dawn is more comfortable because of its firmness and lack sinkage. To aid heat dissipation, two cooling covers are included in the Plus.

Edge Support

Each Helix model includes an encasement made from the coil’s inner core. Because of this, sinkage is less when a person lies down or sits on the edge. Every model has a different level support due to its structure and stiffness.

Twilight and Dawn offer the best edge support, thanks to their solid design. Due to their solid construction, they provide outstanding edge support. Dusk, Midnight, or Plus are sufficient to support the edges.

Moonlight the Moonlight and Sunset are the most luxurious models. They offer more support for your spine, while also allowing you to sleep closer to the edge. They offer the most edge support among all Helix mattresses.

Ease of Movement

The model’s ability to move is the main distinguishing feature. The deep sinking Moonlight and setting sun make it difficult to walk on this surface.

Twilight models and Dawn models feel more firm and pleasant. With the powerful pushback of the body, Dawn and Twilight models make it much easier to get out of bed.

The Line with the Plus has a two-layer comfort system. Although it is a bit more difficult than other hybrids to move on, the bed’s firmness allows for sufficient movement.

Sex

Helix mattresses can provide spring and bounce due to their coil cores. This is something many couples love when having sex. The mattress’s design will determine how the foam layers affect the sexual experience.

Because of their smooth surfaces, the Helix Dawn’s and Twilight’s make it easy to move about. This makes them great for couples. Dusk, midnight, plus, and plus are the best times for sex. Moonlight and sunset, however, will make it more challenging. These models have soft, plush surfaces which may limit motion.

Off-Gassing

All Helix models initially have the standard amount of “new mattress scent,” which is present with all foam mattresses.

The smell is usually considered safe and disappears after a few days. Helix offers a number of various mattress options.

Helix mattresses can be described as hybrids because their coil cores make it easier for air to move around the entire bed. This means that the odors from Helix mattresses will dissipate faster than they would from an all-foam one.

If you are bothered by the smell, you can choose to expose the mattress in a well-ventilated area for a few more hours.

Helix Sleeping Style and Body Weight

Side Sleepers

Helix-sunset-sideThe key to a good night’s sleep is finding the right mattress that provides the perfect balance of support and cushioning. To relieve strain and align the spine, the hips and shoulders need to be free to sink into the mattress. Side sleepers often prefer mattresses that have a “medium” feel. This is closer to the soft side of the range.

Side bed sleepers weighing less than 130 lbs will appreciate the soft padding in the Moonlight or Dusk models. The Moonlight is for those who enjoy a more comfortable environment.

The Midnight and Dusk models are best for side sleepers weighing between 130-230 pounds. Most people in this weight range will love the models’ combination for powerful contouring as well as support.

If you are a side-sleeper who is more than 230 lbs, the Plus and, to some extent, the Twilight will be your best choices. This model’s firmer feel will help side sleepers not sink too deeply into their bed. The Helix Dynamic Foam layer gives cushioning and bounce, and since the Plus is designed for bigger persons, the foam comfort layers provide the necessary cradling that relieves pressure on the shoulders and hips.

Back Sleepers

Back sleepers likewise want a mix of support and contouring, but they want less cushioning than side sleepers do.

To prevent spinal misalignment, back sleeping usually requires a little more support and hardness, particularly in the lumbar area. The posture of your back on the bed ensures that your spine is reasonably even.

This is why side sleepers prefer mattresses that are firmer, but not as rigid as stomach sleepers.

The Midnight may be the best option for back sleepers under 130 pounds, depending on their needs. It offers the ideal amount support and cushioning to this sleeping position.

There are many options for those who weigh between 130-230 pounds and between 130-230 pounds. Back sleepers that fall into this weight range might do well in the Twilight or the Plus. Both offer enough cushioning to cushion the spine, and support for the lower back. Due to their reliable support and reasonable firmness, they are both Dusk and Dawn are also excellent.

For those who weigh more over 230 pounds who sleep on their backs, the Plus, Twilight, and Dawn are great options. These pillows provide excellent support and help to keep hips from sinking into your mattress.

Stomach Sleepers

As the main weight bearing part of a person’s body, torsos are usually heavier. Stomach sleepers are more likely to put stress on their mattresses, and sink deeper than others. If they sink too far, they run the risk of pushing their spines out their normal alignment. It can cause later aches and discomforts. Ultimately, stomach sleepers need a mattress that is firmer, more supportive, and has enough push-back to keep their backs in alignment.

Helix models with a firmer surface will be the most comfortable for stomach sleepers. This is because they require a level surface for proper spinal alignment. People who are more than 130 lbs and who wish to sleep well may choose the Plus or Dawn. Thanks to their support and hardiness, the central part of the mattress is strong enough not to cause excessive weight loss. To provide stomach sleepers with this weight, a cushion which is comfortable will be sufficient.

Because it feels medium firm, the Midnight is best for stomach sleepers weighing less than 130lbs. But, people who are heavier will not sink as deep. The Twilight might be suitable for stomach sleepers with lighter weights, particularly those who weigh between 130-230 pounds.
