GhostBed Mattress Firmness And Feel
How is the firmness of the GhostBed mattress?
In terms of firmness, we place the GhostBed as a medium firmness on our scale. That means it has lots of pressure relief. This is crucial for side sleepers or people who suffer from chronic pain. Although GhostBed isn’t an especially comfortable mattress, we believe it offers decent support, particularly due to that latex-based foam layer.
Keep in mind that the level of firmness is dependent on the body type of yours. We’ll come back to that later however, just remember that it’s a middle to us on the scale.
How does the GhostBed feel?
While GhostBed is topped by an additional layer of latex foam, we actually think the entire bed appears to be a mixture of three different foams rather than feeling distinctly like that top foam layer.
It is a mixed-foam feeling. It’s surprising that the GhostBed mattress isn’t the fastest to bounce back after being depressed (if you press it down hard).
Typically, latex beds have a spongy feel that gives them great responsiveness, but it seems that the central layers of memory foam are dominating that characteristic in the GhostBed.
GhostBed Mattress Construction
GhostBed is a foam mattress composed of polyfoam, memory foam , and latex foam. Broken down, you receive three layers (one layers of foam for each) as you see in the side view below.
The foundation layer on the} GhostBed mattress has 7.5″ of high-density polyurethane foam. Because it’s so thick, you’ll get ample support from this mattress.
The base layer of the GhostBed Mattress is 7.5″ from high-density polyurethane. Because it’s so thick it will provide plenty of support from this mattress.
Next, we have} an additional 2″ layer of gel memory foam which is supposed to help with temperature regulation and to act as a transition between the top and bottom layers.

The top layer of the GhostBed mattress is a 1.5″ thickness of aerated latex foam. Latex foam is a spongier-feeling material that permits an airflow that is good and gives the bed a bit of bounce.
The top of the GhostBed mattress is an 1.5″ layer of Aerated Latex Foam. It is a more spongier material that provides good airflow and gives the bed some bounce.
The cover on the GhostBed is constructed from the blend of viscose and polyester. Honestly, it isn’t anything extraordinary, but we’ve no issues with it, other the fact that it can get dirtier than other covers. The cover is removable (as are the majority of mattress covers) however, it’s not machine washable, which is why we wouldn’t recommend you ever take it off. It’s not really needed and is a bit of trouble. If you do need to clean up–perhaps there was a spill from your breakfast before going to bed–just grab a cloth and some warm water with mild detergent. Dab on the area until the spill comes out.

The cover can be removed (as are most mattress covers) However, it’s not machine washable. Therefore, we don’t actually suggest that you ever remove it. It’s not necessary and can be quite an inconvenience. If you have to do some cleaning–maybe it was because you spilled breakfast in bed–just grab a cloth and some hot water and mild detergent. Dab onto the spot until it comes out.
GhostBed Mattress Performance
Overall, we found this to be true. Ghostbed mattress provides pretty good pressure relief. This is especially important for those who sleep on their sides. This is due to memory foam which is a good place to rest your body in to ease pressure points. Remember, anyone above 160 lb will experience more pressure relief than extra petite folks.
GhostBed doesn’t sleep hot, per se, but it doesn’t really sleep cool either. The company claims that the gel memory foam it uses is supposed to keep the bed cooler and, perhaps it does, but it doesn’t keep the bed cool to the touch.
We’re referring to the GhostBed a temperature-neutral mattress. It won’t make you overheat during the night and also isn’t going to cause you to feel cold. Additionally the more light you are and the less you rest on top of the mattress (and the more latex foam) and, as a result, the cooler you’ll feel. If you’re heavier then you’ll sink more and rest a little hotter.
Edge support is an important mattress performance metric for people who sleep in beds. We’ve all heard the story that sleeping with a partner often results in one person ending up pushed to the side of the mattress while another takes up the middle. That’s where edge support comes in. Edge support
GhostBed offers an excellent edge support. So, in the event that something happens, at least the unlucky sleeper will not feel like they’re about to fall off the bed.
Motion isolation refers to whether the mattress limits cross-bed motion. Motion isolation is a good thing because the motion of one person’s turning and tossing isn’t felt by the other. GhostBed does a good job restricting the transfer of motion. You can get up to catch a rerun of the late night show Seinfeld If that’s what you’d like to do. Keep the volume low and your bedmate will sleep right through it.
Is GhostBed a good mattress for couples?
Yes, we would say this mattress is suitable for those who sleep with a loved one or an animal that is large and well-loved. The two features we like to mention for couples are the support for edges and motion isolation. The GhostBed mattress has passed all of our tests. We highly recommend this mattress to couples.

GhostBed Review Verdict
GhostBed is one of our top mattresses around the globe. However, it’s also comfortable and is suitable for any type of sleeper. It’s easy to see why a lot of users on the internet appear to enjoy it. We are pleased to see the addition of latex foam to provide support, not all beds have it and we think it’s a huge plus.
It’s also approximately 1 inch thicker than other comparable foam beds on the market and costs under $1,200 for the queen size (which isn’t expensive for latex). Ryan Mohanan Ghostbed
