GhostBed Mattress Firmness And Feel
How do you feel about the GhostBed mattress?
For firmness we put the GhostBed at a medium on our scale. This means that it provides ample pressure relief, which is essential for people who are side-sleeping or suffering from chronic pain. While GhostBed isn’t the most comfortable mattress, we think it has pretty good support, particularly due to that latex foam layer.
Keep in mind that the degree of firmness can be subjective and will vary based on your body type. We’ll discuss that in the future however, just remember that it’s a medium on our scale.
How does the GhostBed feel?
Although GhostBed is covered with a layer of latex foam, we think the entire bed feels like a blend of three different foams instead of feeling like the top layer.
It is a mixed-foam feel. It’s surprising that the GhostBed mattress is somewhat slow to bounce back once depressed (if you press it down hard).
Usually, latex beds have a sponginess to them that makes them extremely responsive however, it appears that the central area of the memory foam layer is trumping that characteristic in the GhostBed.
GhostBed Mattress Construction
GhostBed is a foam mattress that is made up of polyfoam latex foam and memory foam. Broken down, you have three layers of foam (one layer of each foam), as you can see in the side views below.
The foundation layer on the} GhostBed Mattress has 7.5″ of high-density polyurethane foam. Because it’s so thick, you’ll get ample support from this mattress.

Then, we’ll have two” layer of gel memory foam, that is designed to assist with temperature regulation and serve as a transition between the top and bottom layers.
The top of the GhostBed mattress is an 1.5″ layer of Aerated latex foam. It is a more spongier material that provides adequate airflow and gives the bed a bit of bounce.
The top layer of GhostBed’s GhostBed mattress is a 1.5″ thickness of air-aerated latex foam. Latex foam is a spongier-feeling material that provides an airflow that is good and gives the bed some bounce.
The cover on the GhostBed is constructed of an elastomer/viscose mix. Honestly, it isn’t anything exceptional, but we’ve no complaints other that it gets dirtier and more quickly than other covers. The cover is removable (as are the majority of mattress covers), but it isn’t machine washable, which is why we wouldn’t recommend you ever take it off. It’s not really necessary and can be quite a hassle. If you have to do some cleaning–maybe it was because you spilled breakfast on the floor in bed–just grab a cloth and some hot water and mild detergent. Dab at the spot until it comes out.

GhostBed Mattress Performance
Overall, we’ve found that the Ghostbed mattress provides pretty good pressure relief, which is especially important when you’re a side sleeper. That’s thanks to the memory foam layer, that cradles your body to relieve pressure points. Be aware that anyone who weighs more than 160 pounds will experience greater relief from pressure than petite folks.
GhostBed doesn’t sleep hot in the traditional sense, but it doesn’t actually sleep cool either. The company says the gel memory foam it uses is designed to keep the bed cool and, perhaps it does but it’s not keeping the bed cool to the touch.
We consider the GhostBed a temperature-neutral mattress. It isn’t going to make you overheat during the night and also will not cause you to feel cold. Also, the lighter you are, the more likely you are to rest on top of the mattress (and latex foam) and, therefore, the cooler you’ll feel. If you’re overweight, you’ll sink in more and might sleep a bit warmer.
Edge support is an essential mattress performance metric for people who sleep in beds. We’ve all heard the story, sleeping with someone often results in one person ending up pushed to the side of the mattress while the other hogs the middle. That’s the reason edge support is important. Edge support
GhostBed has good edge support, so if that does happen then at least the unfortunate sleeping person won’t feel like they’re about to roll off the bed.
Motion isolation is the term used to describe whether the mattress limits cross-bed motion. Motion isolation is a good thing because one partner’s twirling and tossing will not be noticed by the other. GhostBed is a great way of limiting the transfer of motion. You can sneak out of bed to watch midnight reruns of Seinfeld if that’s what you’d like to do. Just keep the volume down and your bedmate will fall asleep right through it.
Is GhostBed a good mattress for couples?
We would suggest this is a good mattress for those who sleep with a spouse or a large, well-loved pet. Two of the features we prefer to highlight for couples are the support for edges along with motion management. The GhostBed mattress is a winner in all our tests. We definitely suggest this mattress for couples.

GhostBed Review Verdict
GhostBed is our most-loved mattress across the globe. That said, it’s comfortable and suitable for all sleeper types. We can understand why so many people on the internet seem to like it. We are pleased to see the addition of latex foam for support. Not all mattresses have it and we think it’s a huge plus.
It’s also around 1” thicker than other comparable foam beds and costs under $1,200 for the queen-sized (which isn’t hard to beat when it comes to latex). Sheets For Ghostbed
