Helix produces the Sunset. Helix has side sleepers in mind while designing the Sunset, the Midnight, and the Twilight. Lunar Light Midnight and Dawn, as well as Dusk & Dawn, were designed with stomach and back sleeping in mind. The Plus is especially made for those who are bigger. While Helix designs each mattress with certain weight categories and sleep positions in mind, some people may also like the way it feels.

Every model, except the Plus comes in both the Luxe or normal editions. Optional, the update expands the coil system in order to provide zonal Lumbar Support to improve spinal alignment. The shoulders can drop further while the hips are supported. The Luxe edition of the quilt is used on the top to give the cushion a plush feel. Tencel covers promote ventilation and moisture removal. Upgrades come with an additional 15-year warranty in addition the usual 10-year guarantee.

The Dawn, Dusk Midnight and Sunset versions are 12 inches thick. Twilight’s luxurious version is 14 inches. Plus is also 13 in thick. The Helix mattress may need large pockets as any of these heights could be regarded high-profile.

Helix Mattress Performance

Motion Isolation

helix-dawn-sideThe majority of Helix mattresses are excellent at preventing movement. Many movements are absorbed by the foam layers. The comfort layers’ latex-like polyfoam, however, is springier than ordinary memory foam. You may be able to sense your partner’s movements throughout the night because to the springiness that emanates from the coil’s center.

Dusk, Sunset have the highest motion absorption of any Helix model due to their memory foam layers.

The Plus also has two comfort layers that prevent most coil movements from reaching the springy core of the mattress.

The mattress may feel less vibratory because of this.

The amount of noise transferred to the mattress is therefore reduced. You might be able to sleep more easily if your partner is not around.

Pressure Relief

One of the benefits of Helix mattresses is pressure reduction, which is partly attributable to the layers of memory foam, polyfoam, and pocketed coils. The foam can be used to relax deeply and allow for self-cradling. This may help reduce pressure points such pressure points as the hips and shoulders. The demands of side sleepers or anyone under 130 lbs. Softer mattresses will be more accommodating to their needs. Firmer mattresses may be recommended for those who want to lie on their stomachs or backs and who are heavier than 230 lbs.

The best relief from pressure is found in the moonlight and dusk. The Plus is designed for heavier people and may help to alleviate pressure points. Due to Twilight and Dawn’s more intense sensations, sleepers will be less likely to experience pressure points. This can reduce the effectiveness of these products.

Temperature Control

Helix mattresses perform above average for hybrids in terms of sleeping cool.

Because memory foam mattresses often retain heat, they can make you feel warm while you sleep. But these mattresses’ coils allow air to flow through them to assist counteract heat loss.

The Dawn’s firmness combined with its lack of sinkage make it cooler than any other type. To further reduce heat loss, the Plus comes with two cooling covers.

Edge Support

Each Helix model features an encasement that’s strengthened in the coil’s core. It reduces sinkage when people sit or lay on the edges of their beds. Every model has a different level support due to its structure and stiffness.

Twilight and Dawn offer the best edge support, thanks to their solid design. Their sturdy construction provides excellent edge support. Dusk or Midnight, plus provide adequate support for the edges.

Moonlight the Moonlight and Sunset are the most luxurious models. They offer more support for your spine, while also allowing you to sleep closer to the edge. These mattresses offer the most support at the edges than any other Helix mattress.

Ease of Movement

The model’s ability to move is the main distinguishing feature. The deep sinking Moonlight and setting sun make it difficult to walk on this surface.

Twilight and Dawn models however, feel firmer and more comfortable. It’s much easier to get up and move about with the Dawn/Twilight models’ strong pushback against your body.

The Line with Plus’s plush comfort system with two layers may make it more difficult to move, but the firmness of the mattress still allows for enough movement.

Sex

Helix mattresses can provide spring and bounce due to their coil cores. This is something many couples love when having sex. The amount of conforming or sinking that the foam layers provide can influence the sexual experience depending on how it is made.

The Helix Dawn and Twilight’s smooth surfaces make moving about simpler, making them the best options for couples. Dusk, midnight, plus, and plus are the best times for sex. Moonlight and sunset, however, will make it more challenging. These models have plush, soft surfaces that may restrict motion.

Off-Gassing

Helix models start with the same standard amount of “new-mattress scent” that all foam mattresses have.

This smell is generally considered to be harmless and will disappear after a few weeks. Helix offers several mattress options.

Helix mattresses that are hybrids have more air circulation because of their coil cores. As a result, the odors will dissipate quicker than they would with an all-foam mattress.

If the smell is bothersome, you might leave the mattress out in a well-ventilated place for a few days.

Helix Sleeping Style and Body Weight

Side Sleepers

Helix-sunset-sideYou can sleep comfortably on your side if you find the right combination of support and cushioning in a mattress. The mattress should allow the shoulders and hips to sink into it. This will help align the spine and relieve strain. Side sleepers often prefer mattresses that have a “medium” feel. This is closer to the soft side of the range.

Side bed sleepers weighing less than 130 lbs will appreciate the soft padding in the Moonlight or Dusk models. The Moonlight is a good option for people who like a cozier atmosphere.

Side sleepers between 130 to 230 pounds are best suited for the Midnight and Dusk’s firmness. Most people in this weight range will love the models’ combination for powerful contouring as well as support.

If you are a side sleeping person who weighs more than 230lbs, the Plus, and to a lesser extent the Twilight, are your best options. This model’s firmer feel will help side sleepers not sink too deeply into their bed. Helix Dynamic Foam gives the Plus cushioning and bounce. And, because the Plus is built for larger individuals, the foam comfort layers provide the required cradling that relieves pressure from the shoulders and hips.

Back Sleepers

Back sleepers also need a combination of support and contouring. But they require less cushioning than side-sleepers.

Back sleeping typically requires a bit extra support and hardness, especially in the lumbar region to prevent sinking too deeply and causing spinal misalignment. Your spine should be balanced by the position of your back on a bed.

This is why back sleepers may choose mattresses that feel firmer than the side sleepers’, but not as stiff and comfortable as stomach sleepers.

The Midnight may be the best option for back sleepers under 130 pounds, depending on their needs. It provides the right amount of support and cushioning that this sleeping position requires.

Those who weigh between 130 and 230 pounds have a wide range of options. Back sleepers who fall within this weight range may be able to use the Plus or Twilight. Both offer sufficient cushioning for the spine and excellent support for the lower part of the back. Dusk and Dawn are equally excellent for their support and firmness.

The Plus, Twilight or Dawn are great options if you weigh more than 220 pounds and prefer to sleep on your back. To prevent hips from sinking into the mattress, they provide great support for the weight range.

Stomach Sleepers

As the main weight bearing part of a person’s body, torsos are usually heavier. Stomach sleepers put greater strain on their mattresses and have a propensity to sink deeper than other positions. If they are too far down, their spines could become twisted and form a U-shaped shape. It can cause later aches and discomforts. The bottom line is that stomach sleepers need a mattress which is firmer, more supportive and offers enough support to align their backs.

Helix versions that are firmer will be more comfortable for stomach-sleepers, who require a level surface in order to maintain their spinal alignment. People who are more than 130 lbs and who wish to sleep well may choose the Plus or Dawn. Thanks to their support and hardiness, the central part of the mattress is strong enough not to cause excessive weight loss. Comfortable cushions will provide the support that stomach-sleepers in this weight range require.

Because the Midnight feels medium-firm it’s suitable for stomach sleepers below 130 pounds. For heavier people, however, the Midnight will sink too deep. For stomach sleepers who are lighter in weight, especially those who weigh between 130 and 230 pounds, the Twilight may also be appropriate.
