Helix Mattress Performance

Motion Isolation

helix-dawn-sideHelix mattresses are very good at controlling movement. The foam layers absorb most movement. However, comfort layers’ latex-like memory foam is much springier than regular memory foam. You may be able to sense your partner’s movements throughout the night because to the springiness that emanates from the coil’s center.

Due to the memory foam layers and softer feel compared to the other Helix models, the Dusk and Sunset both absorb the most motion of all the Helix models.

The Plus has two comfort layers as well, which prevent the majority of coil motions from reaching the springy coil core of the mattress.

The mattress may feel less vibratory because of this.

As a consequence, noise transmission is decreased over the mattress. The amount of motion transmission during the moonlight, dawn and midnight is very low, which may lessen your ability to go to sleep.

Pressure Relief

Helix mattresses offer pressure relief. This is partially due to the pocketsed coils, memory foam and polyfoam layers. The foam can be used to relax deeply and allow for self-cradling. This may help reduce pressure points such pressure points as the hips and shoulders. Side sleepers (or anyone below 130 lbs) have specific needs. Softer mattresses are more suitable for side sleepers and those who weigh less than 130 lbs. Firmer mattresses are recommended for people who sleep on their stomachs, back, or who weigh more that 230 pounds.

The best relief from pressure is found in the moonlight and dusk. The Plus is specially designed for heavier sleepers and may reduce pressure points. Due to Twilight and Dawn’s more intense sensations, sleepers will be less likely to experience pressure points. This can reduce the effectiveness of these products.

Temperature Control

Helix hybrid mattresses are around average when it comes to cooling down.

Because memory foam mattresses often retain heat, they can make you feel warm while you sleep. But these mattresses’ coils allow air to flow through them to assist counteract heat loss.

The Dawn’s firmness, and lack of sinkage, makes it more comfortable than other types. Two cooling covers are included with the Plus to further aid with heat dissipation.

Edge Support

Each Helix model features an encasement that’s strengthened in the coil’s core. It reduces sinkage when people sit or lay on the edges of their beds. Each model is different in terms of how supportive it provides edge support. This is due to the quality of its construction and stiffness.

The Dawn and Twilight, for example, provide excellent edge support due to their strong design. Their sturdy construction provides excellent edge support. Dusk, Midnight and Plus also provide enough support for the edges.

Moonlight the Moonlight, Sunset and Sunset are the most luxurious models. You’ll feel less sinking while you sleep or be close to the edge. These mattresses offer the most support at the edges than any other Helix mattress.

Ease of Movement

The ease of movement is primarily determined by the model’s quality. The deep sinking Moonlight and setting sun make it difficult to walk on this surface.

Twilight and Dawn models have a more comfortable, firmer sensation. With the powerful pushback of the body, Dawn and Twilight models make it much easier to get out of bed.

The two-layer comfort system of the Line with the Plus may make the bed a little harder to move about on than other hybrids, but the firmness still allows for a sufficient amount of movement.

Sex

Helix mattresses provide some spring and bounce thanks to their coil cores. Many couples find this a great option for sex. Depending on the design of the mattress, the degree of conforming and sinking provided by the foam layers may enhance or detract from the sexual experience.

Because of their smooth surfaces, the Helix Dawn’s and Twilight’s make it easy to move about. This makes them great for couples. Dusk, midnight, plus, and plus are the best times for sex. Moonlight and sunset, however, will make it more challenging. These models may be restricted by their soft, plush surfaces.

Off-Gassing

Helix models are initially equipped with the standard “new mattress fragrance” which is common for all foam mattresses.

This smell is often thought to be safe and goes away after a few days. Helix offers several mattress options.

Helix hybrid mattresses have coil cores that allow for more air to flow across the entire bed. This means that the odors from Helix mattresses will dissipate faster than they would from an all-foam one.

You can leave the mattress open for a few hours if the smell bothers you.

Helix Sleeping Style and Body Weight

Side Sleepers

Helix-sunset-sideA mattress that has the right amount of support and cushions is key to good sleep. The mattress should allow the shoulders and hips to sink into it. This will help align the spine and relieve strain. Mattresses with a “medium” feel, closer to the soft end of the range, are often preferred by side sleepers.

Side sleepers with a weight below 130 pounds will appreciate the plush padding offered by the Moonlight, Dusk, and Moonlight models. The Moonlight is the best option for those who desire a cozier setting.

Side sleepers who are between 130 and 230 lbs should be able to use the Midnight/Dusk. Most people in this weight range will love the models’ combination for powerful contouring as well as support.

If you’re a side sleeper and weigh more than 230 pounds, the Plus or, to a lesser degree, the Twilight are your best options. This model’s firmer feel will help side sleepers not sink too deeply into their bed. Helix Dynamic foam layer provides bounce and cushioning, while the Plus model is for larger persons. The foam comfort layers provide support and cushioning, as well as the relief of pressure on the hips, shoulders, and hips.

Back Sleepers

Side sleepers need less cushioning but still require support.

For back sleep to be comfortable, you will need to provide support and firmness in the lumbar region. This is important to avoid sinking too deep and creating spinal misalignment. Your spine should be balanced by the position of your back on a bed.

This is why back sleepers may choose mattresses that feel firmer than the side sleepers’, but not as stiff and comfortable as stomach sleepers.

The Midnight may be the best option for back sleepers under 130 pounds, depending on their needs. It provides the ideal amount of cushioning and support for this sleeping posture.

The options are endless for people who weigh between 130 and 220 pounds. The Plus or Twilight might be a good choice for back sleepers who are in this weight range. Both offer enough support to the lower back and spine with sufficient plushness. They are both Dusk as well as Dawn excellent because of their firmness and reliability.

The Plus, Twilight and Dawn are great choices for those who sleep on their backs and weigh more than 230 pounds. These mattresses provide support for all weight categories to prevent hips sinking into the mattress.

Stomach Sleepers

Because torsos typically bear the bulk of a person’s weight, Stomach sleepers put greater strain on their mattresses and have a propensity to sink deeper than other positions. They run the danger of pushing their spines out of their normal alignment and forming a U shape if they drop too far. It could cause aches or pains in the future. Stomach sleepers require a mattress that is firmer and more supportive. It should also have enough push-back to support their backs.

The firmer Helix versions will be most comfortable for stomach sleepers, who require a level surface to preserve proper spinal alignment and alignment. The Plus and Dawn are good options for those who weigh over 130 pounds and want to sleep well. Due to its hardness and support, the central area of the mattress is strong enough to prevent excessive weight loss. Comfortable cushions will provide the support that stomach-sleepers in this weight range require.

Because the Midnight feels medium-firm it’s suitable for stomach sleepers below 130 pounds. Heavy people may sink too much. The Twilight is also suitable for stomach sleepers who are lighter, especially those who weigh between 130 to 230 pounds.
